Bitcoin first saw DeFi adoption happen on Ethereum, where the asset was brought to the tech. As our CEO @dneorej highlighted a while back, the real opportunity lies in unlocking idle BTC by bringing the tech to the asset itself. That’s what makes this space feel both so early and so exciting at the same time.

Bitcoin holders clearly want to do more with their BTC, and the early traction around BTCFi has already shown that to an extent. The harder challenge now is figuring out how to do that without introducing unnecessary complexity, trust assumptions, or risk for the end user. Interoperability helps. Better UX helps. Agents might eventually abstract most of it away entirely. We’re still very early in understanding what the final experience should actually look like as a space. Still a lot to build.

🚨 Persisters, the Incentivised Beta campaign for Bitcoin cross-chain swaps is now wrapped up. Together, we crossed ~$90K in volume across BNB Chain and Base with intentionally small limits, giving us strong signals on real-world performance. We patched bugs, stress-tested flows, and gathered solid feedback along the way. Appreciate everyone who tried it out and shared inputs. The campaign is now temporarily paused as we review next steps. More soon.
