It recently came to light that Jeffrey George Ewert, a man convicted of the rape and murder of one woman and a choking attack on a 15-year-old girl for refusing his advances which rendered her quadriplegic, was enrolled in law school classes at McGill University. In response to his being removed from the classroom pending a safety review, some McGill law students and alumni created a petition to bring him back into the classroom. The Law Students' Association has backed the petition. Clinical assessments determined that Jeffrey George Ewert's risk of reoffending is moderate to high. He picked up his first victim while she was hitchhiking home from a bar. He strangled her unconscious, raped her, and then threw her body in a river. Less than 6 weeks later he severely beat and strangled a 15-year-old girl for refusing his advances. He threw her body in a ditch and the girl was found alive the next day. The girl has suffered blindness, severe brain damage, and quadriplegia from the vicious attack. Ewert broke his parole conditions multiple times by viewing women’s profiles on social media, getting their phone numbers, starting discussions with them, and exploring a dating site without notifying his case management team. He was reprimanded by the parole board in 2025 but the kooks who created and signed the petition still want him to be part of this human experiment with young female students. Canadian judges are facilitating violent and dangerous males through two-tier judgments based on Gladue. Law students are being indoctrinated into advocating for this amoral and dangerous idiocy.

Go out for walks every day. The human body evolved to doggedly track our quarry over long distances and spot our predators over those same long distances. The former runs counter to being sedentary on an office chair, and the latter runs counter to staring at a computer screen.
most people i know who work from home have genuinely lost their minds in the last 5 years the few who are still sane are the ones who spend most of their remaining time outside in nature

"You reduce crime by eliminating poverty." This is one of the greatest intellectual confusions of our century. It sounds compassionate. It feels obvious. And the moment you actually test it, it falls apart. Let's look at the data. First, the correlation is real. Nobody serious denies that poorer areas have more crime. In Sweden, kids from the poorest 20% of families are about 7 times more likely to be convicted of a violent crime than kids from the richest 20%. But correlation is not causation. So Swedish researchers did something brilliant: they compared siblings. Same parents, same home, same upbringing, but different family income at different points in their childhood, because parents' income moves over time. Result, on more than 500,000 children (Sariaslan et al., British Journal of Psychiatry, 2014): once you account for what's shared inside the family, the effect of income on violent crime goes from 7x to nothing. The hazard ratio drops to 0.95. No effect. Finland ran the same test on 650,000 people. Same result: the income-crime link disappears when you compare siblings. What predicts crime isn't the bank balance. It's what travels inside families. Second test: what happens when poverty spikes for everyone at once? 2008. US unemployment doubled from 5% to nearly 10%. 15% of Americans officially poor. If poverty creates crime, crime should have exploded. Instead it fell. Year after year. Robbery, the most "economic" crime of all, dropped 10% in 2010 alone. Criminologists literally said they were stumped. Same story in the Great Depression: 25% unemployment, and crime went down in many cities. Third test: take families out of poverty and see. The US government ran a randomized lottery called Moving to Opportunity. Thousands of families in public housing got vouchers to move to low-poverty neighborhoods. For boys, violent arrests dropped at first, property crime arrests went up, and over time the effects faded. New zip code. Same behavior. Fourth: the claim that police don't matter. This one is just false. Chalfin et al. (American Economic Review: Insights, 2022): each additional police officer prevents about 0.1 homicides. And per capita, the lives saved are twice as many among Black victims as among white victims. The people who suffer most from "police don't matter" are the poorest neighborhoods. So what does predict crime? The Dunedin study followed 1,000 children from birth to age 32. Self-control measured between ages 3 and 11 predicted adult criminal convictions, even after controlling for social class and IQ (Moffitt et al., PNAS, 2011). Cognitive ability matters too: across 700,000 Swedish men, lower cognitive scores at 18 track with violent convictions, and the link barely moves when you control for childhood socioeconomic status (Frisell et al., 2012). And here's the part nobody quotes: in Dunedin, kids whose self-control improved over time did better than predicted. Behavior can change. Which means responsibility is real. Why does this matter? Because "poverty creates crime" isn't just wrong. It's toxic. It turns criminals into victims. The man who robbed you becomes a symptom of "the system," and you, the real victim, become a footnote in someone else's narrative. It merges two completely different things. "You're poor, we'll help you" is one policy. "You're poor and you committed a crime, so we'll excuse you" is another. Fusing them insults the millions of poor people who work, raise their kids, and never hurt anyone. The vast majority of poor people are not criminals. That alone kills the theory. It removes responsibility. Build a political system on "your circumstances made you do it" and you destroy the one thing that actually changes behavior: the certainty that you own your choices. Every excuse the state manufactures is an incentive. And it feeds the state forever. If every crime is a social failure, every crime justifies a new program, a new budget, a new agency. Crime becomes the business model of bureaucracy. The alternative is simple and old. A lighter state that protects instead of explains. The same rules for everyone, from the projects or from a gated community. Certain, swift punishment for anyone who commits a crime. And never, ever telling someone their crime was written in their social condition. Treating someone as responsible is respecting them. Excusing someone because they're poor is the most condescending thing you can do to them.

The past few days, I got my hands on thousands of new transcripts and hundreds of recordings, thanks to leads from @SKDoubleDub33 and @iamlisalogan . You've heard that the DSA is proposing structural reforms to America, including abolishing the Senate and imposing term limits. What you not have heard is - there is an operational plan to put it all into action. If the Democratic Party sweeps 2026, then DSA will become "foot soldiers" in constant clashes with the administration to cross a "red line" or invoke a "doomsday scenario" - meaning, President Trump invokes the Insurrection Act, probably sometime in 2027. Then, a lot of coordinated responses kick off, including delegitimizing the federal government itself and handing that legitimacy to Democratic governors. 2028 then becomes a vote on whether to keep America governance as-is or to burn it all down to appease a "young and brown" demographic. The mysterious group who's been coordinating 50501, Indivisible, and coordinating the NoKings protests is called "United Democracy Alliance" and their intellectual leader is Erica Chenoweth who came up with the 3.5% rule of nonviolent regime change. Patience. I know I've hyped this more than anything else. It's genuinely the biggest discovery I've had. This is an enormous archive. This is only the beginning.

Last year I thought Threads was an existential risk to X. When Meta puts its full weight behind something -- by injecting the app into Instagram, it’s DEFCON 5: You have to squeeze out every last drop of growth from all available surfaces to save the app. However, I started to realize that the opposite was happening: It was strengthening X. If you look at any announcement by Zuck, you will see the most rude & toxic comments on the internet. But when he makes those same announcements on X, people are thrilled about how he’s pushing humanity forward. X is a place where people are excited about the future, so it’s no surprise he and his top lieutenants are using it more than their own app. Threads — and Bluesky — have effectively quarantined some of the worst people on the internet. And so I had an epiphany: those apps are X’s anti-abuse systems.

can we start calling things human slop. i'm so sick of people acting like their code or math proof is inherently more valuable because they slaved away making it themselves. especially when the field is so fucking deterministic and we can actually check whether the result works. what gets me even more angry is when it's a thankless effort like oss. someone spends their valuable time making something for you, for free, and you think it's okay to criticize how they go about it and half the time, if they hadn't found an easier way to make it, the thing wouldn't exist at all. there isn't some "lovingly handcrafted" alternative waiting in the wings there's just nothing. each person being able to do way more means problems that wouldn't even have been given a thought can finally get solutions. somebody with a one-off bug in a game can go ahead and patch it themselves. somebody with a rare genetic condition could get together with a small group of people and have a real shot at contributing to research that nobody was prioritizing, without needing billions of dollars behind them just to get started. people can finally do things they couldn't do before, including things nobody else was ever going to bother doing for them, and your first instinct is to get mad about how they did it. i think that's so self-serving. when you'd rather something useful never existed than accept that somebody had an easier time making it than you would have, there's something genuinely ugly about that

🚨 THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE. CANADA, HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? A man with no reported income managed to get the CRA to approve $40 MILLION in bogus tax refunds. Over $10 MILLION was actually paid out. He even contacted the CRA beforehand to explain his bizarre beliefs about secret government accounts. The money still went through. Here's the kicker. It wasn't the CRA that caught it. A BANK MANAGER raised the alarm and prevented another $30 million from being paid out. CBC's The Fifth Estate uncovered 19 similar cases involving nearly $300 MILLION in claimed refunds. No criminal charges against the man at the time of the report. Meanwhile, ordinary Canadians face scrutiny over their tax returns. How does a federal agency responsible for collecting billions in taxes allow something like this to happen?

🚨 WOW: A Canadian woman who moved to America on a visa is BEGGING Americans not to vote Democrat in the midterms. She spent 27 years watching the left run Canada into the ground. She says she couldn't keep up with the taxes or the cost of living, and she waited about a YEAR AND A HALF to get an eye problem looked at. Now that she's here, she says she can finally afford groceries, rent, gas, and insurance. The numbers back her up. Canadians wait a median 28.6 WEEKS from referral to treatment. Neurosurgery takes 49.9 WEEKS. That's what "free" healthcare really costs. Listen to the people who've lived it. Vote RED.
Woman who escaped communism and is now living in America is begging Americans not to vote Democrat during midterms “I'm here on a visa. It's election time here in the US. Elections are coming up. It's midterms. I cannot sit here and stress enough how truly the left crumbles a nation, crumbles an economy, crumbles your lifestyle, crumbles your mental health. I lived in Canada for the first 27 years of my life. I sat there and watched my homeland crumble under the liberals, the Democrats, The left. And it's really sad. It's really, really sad and it's really heartbreaking” “I didn't want to grow up thinking that I would have to find a way out because life over there was so horrible. Drowning in taxes. Everything is so expensive, you know. Oh, free healthcare, blah blah blah. No, nothing in life is free — a lot of people pay over 50% in taxes” “I am very thankful I have a visa and I live in the US now. And life over here is much better. I can afford to buy groceries. I can afford my housing. I can afford gas. I can afford my insurance. I can afford a life. You do not, you do not, you do not want to be under a communist nation” She also talks about how it’s like a 9 month wait just to see a specialist doctor. For something like an eye problem, she says the wait was about a year and a half “It's honestly unbelievable. Life in the US is way better than life in Canada. Life in Canada is absolutely horrible. There is a reason why a lot of people are leaving Canada. Do not let that same mentality get into power in the US. I swear it's not good. It's not good” Americans need to understand how serious this is, here are the average wait time for doctors in Canada under universal healthcare - Neurosurgery 49.9 weeks (nearly 1 year) - Orthopaedic surgery 48.6 weeks - Otolaryngology 43.8 weeks - Overall elective specialist treatment is 7 months or longe. In some provinces it’s over 14 months - Oral surgery is 16 weeks - ENT, gynaecology and orthopaedics is over 1 year - Rheumatology roughly 3 months Of course Canada isn’t communist but many people call it communist because of the universal healthcare and extremely government policies. It’s actually a federal constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy We can’t allow Democrats to get power

This entire ocean is a 61 KB HTML file. Built with Claude Code + Opus 5.5 in about 30 minutes, according to its creator. It runs in the browser using WebGPU: FFT waves, whitecaps, sun glitter, a physically based sunset sky with clouds, and a free-flying camera. No game engine or rendering library. Claude rendered screenshots in headless Chrome, then had separate subagents critique them. The creator gave feedback along the way, mainly on the clouds. The 61 KB build is minified and self-contained. Download it, open it in Chrome with WebGPU support, and explore with WASD.

Jack Dorsey, one of the Bluesky board of directors openly stated that he hated what Bluesky was becoming. It was never sold as the replacement to X, and he can be quoted saying; "I think people are running away from X, rather than running to something on Bluesky" Bluesky was intended to be open-source and decentralised. It was supposed to be something new that built up from the foundation of what came before. And it used AI to do it. Bluesky used Claude for AI coding, to both build and manage the site. They didn't even hide it, but because they didn't make a song and dance about using AI or being Pro-AI the lefties who were blinded by AI Derangement Syndrome just ran to it and tried to turn it into Twitter 2.0. They saw Bluesky say "We won't train AI on your posts" and assumed that meant Bluesky was Anti-AI. They put words in Bluesky's mouth and then believed it. And now they're complaining that Bluesky lied? They never lied. You made assumptions then repeated them so much you began to believe them. At worst, you can say Bluesky did nothing to correct the misconceptions. But why would they want to? They were just handed a massive userbase that would normally take years and a small fortune to build up. It's not even like they lied by omission either. They continued to use X to announce updates. I think one of the funniest things about this whole situation is the artist response. Artists genuinely deleted their entire portfolios from X because they believed it would be used to train AI, then posted all their art to Bluesky... As someone who trains image gen LoRAs, I want to say this part in bold; BLUESKY IS EASIER TO SCRAPE THAN X! Artists actually deleted years of work, their entire artistic journey and all their reach as a kneejerk reaction over AI, then migrated to the site that was easier to scrape! I feel bad for them, I really do. These people got fed a lie, fearmongered into believing they had to delete everything and run only to end up here, with their "safe space" now promoting the vibe-coding they so hate. What do they do now? Run back to X? They already deleted everything, they'll have to start from scratch again. Slowly upload their art so as not to have the algorithm think they're a spam bot and pray it gets noticed by the right people. They sabotaged themselves for a lie, sold by their friends. Sorry, this post is getting a bit ramble-y. My point is - Bluesky never lied. It was never supposed to be Twitter 2.0. It was never supposed to be Anti-AI. It was never sold as the Anti-X. That was all you. You guys made the assumption, then sold it that way to your friends.
Replying to @_GAi92
Eh, BlueSky wasn't exactly transparent about this though. They marketed themselves as an anti-X/Twitter, seemingly including AI and Grok, etc. So in a sense they deceived their own audience.
