Texas law requires officials to let a legislator review government records for official purposes. Hinojosa requested unredacted Abbott–Musk communications (heavily redacted earlier as “intimate and embarrassing”). Officials refused, so she sued. The refusal of a clear legal duty, while Musk’s companies receive major Texas benefits and large donations flow to Republican figures, shows basic governance obligations are being ignored.
The real kicker, as it that’s not enough - AG Paxton who just got $158M from Musk gets to decide what’s released.
Texas “shall” provide versus “my donor would hate it and it’s bad for me and my party”.
Who wins? Not Texas.
End Citizens United
Gina Hinojosa sued “Attorney General” @GregAbbott_TX today.
The lawsuit is baseless and nothing more than an embarrassing act of desperation.
Gina is abusing her office for political purposes.

Trump: “russia, frankly, has treated Ukraine pretty well. They haven’t really done much.”
What an absolute piece of shit.
Good to see, though late to grow a spine
Recent reports on Starshield satellite communication disruptions in Ukraine raise serious concerns and must be investigated.
I joined @SenatorShaheen, @SenThomTillis, and six of our Senate colleagues in calling for the @DeptofWar Inspector General to determine what happened with this critical capability and protect American personnel. It remains in our national interest to help Ukraine defend itself from Putin’s aggression.

In a classified briefing, a DoD official revealed to Senators how much Iranian attacks on U.S. bases have cost us.
Now, I'm calling for the DoD to make that number public.
Americans deserve to know how much of their money is being burned on Trump's war with Iran.

A security vulnerability doesn't require malicious code or a hidden backdoor.
Sometimes the vulnerability is the ability to turn the system off.
Ukraine just learned that. Every U.S. ally is watching.
During my time at the National Security Council, my colleagues and I worked to persuade European allies to reject Huawei’s 5G technology. The concern was not simply that Huawei was a Chinese company, or that we distrusted Beijing. It was that telecommunications infrastructure is foundational to modern society and national defense. Whoever controls critical components of that infrastructure may possess capabilities that extend far beyond the product being sold.
A compromised telecommunications network can expose sensitive information, facilitate surveillance, disrupt communications, or create opportunities to manipulate systems. Remote access, software updates, and privileged administrative controls can become vulnerabilities if a supplier—or the government capable of compelling that supplier—chooses to exploit them.

Not cutting five-year-old girls’ clitorises is Islamophobic. - @JessicaTarlov
The doctors at the center of America’s first federal FGM prosecution have opened a clinic together in Detroit where they offer school physicals for children and accept seven different taxpayer funded insurance providers.
Dr. Jumana Nargawala and Dr. Fakhruddin Attar were accused of working together to mutilate the genitals of young girls in Michigan. Dr. Nargwala was the one who actually performed the procedures, while Dr. Attar provided her the space in which to operate.
The procedure Dr. Nargwala was accused of performing upon nine little girls involved the amputation of the clitoris and inner labia, followed by the removal of the flesh along the inside of the outer labia. Dr. Nargwala then allegedly sewed these little girls shut, leaving a hole the size of a matchstick for urination and menstruation. The indictment accused Dr. Attar of opening his clinic after hours so that Dr. Nargwala could mutilate the victims, and both physicians were accused of telling victims and their families not to discuss the mutilations.
The case against both doctors was dismissed in 2018 after the judge ruled that the federal FGM statute was “unconstitutional.” Neither physician was ever charged in state courts, and Michigan’s Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs chose not to pursue disciplinary action. Both doctors have since been allowed to renew their medical licenses. Neither doctor has ever had their medical license revoked or restricted in any way.

Reportedly a recent image of Alaska police rocking a rattlecanned 10mm Heckler & Koch MP5 wearing a suppressor, mag coupler, Midwest handguard, and Aimpoint red dot 👌🏽
Do I need a 10mm MP5? Yes. For what? Doesn't matter.
Where are all the MP5 clone factories making 10mm variants with last round bolt hold open? I feel like there's a business opportunity here now with FRTs and silencers becoming more popular 🤫

Meet MAGAt Scott C. Hughes, a 54-year-old married Baptist pastor and former adolescent youth worker from Somerset, Kentucky. He is facing a series of felony charges including first-degree sodomy, second-degree sodomy, third-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, human trafficking involving commercial sexual activity with a victim under 18, and incest.
The detailed allegations against Hughes span several years and involve multiple victims. Authorities from the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office state that the initial investigation uncovered a pattern of sexual abuse involving minors that dates back to 2018. Hughes exploited his positions of trust, which included serving as the pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church, First Baptist Bronston, and Eubank Baptist Church, as well as working in an adolescent drug rehabilitation program for Sunrise Children's Services.
The case grew even more disturbing after Hughes was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center. A new arrest warrant was served following a detailed report from an adult male who came forward to report that Hughes systematically abused him for years, with the horrific behavior starting when the victim was just 10 years old. Public records and local reports confirm that Hughes is married and has children, making the criminal charge of incest particularly grievous as investigators continue to look for additional victims.

How much? The isolationist mantra of "no foreign wars" applied to troops on the ground that we choose to deploy. Russia is actively engaged in undermining our political system. At what point and at what level do we respond?
