It was the gleeful smugness that really got me. Nothing like watching a burly white man unmask with a ‘what-are-you-gonna-do-about-it-make-me’ expression in the face of a too-kind flight attendant just trying to do their job - to make my stomach turn…

This country is wild. Nobody here gives a sh*t about their neighbor - or workers, I guess.
So now half of the flight who is complying with @delta’s stated policy are masked - and we, including the poor, exposed flight attendants - are on a flight with a bunch of unmasked, coughing, celebrating patriots and a smug pilot safe in his cockpit. Great. Awesome.

But THEN (and this is where it gets crazy) the pilot gets on the mic and gleefully contradicts the crew member says, ‘Actually, we can all take off our masks, wearing your mask is your choice!’ And half the flight cheers.

So the crew leader gets on the mic and says ‘please comply with Delta’s ongoing private policy and keep wearing your mask to protect your fellow passengers and the crew.’ Fair. My mask wasn’t coming off anyway.

I’m currently on @Delta flight 2555 to Detroit. People started boarding without masks. Apparently a baby judge in Florida overturned the @TSA mask mandate and it hit the news about 25 minutes ago.

What a cool group! I’m so excited to be included, thrilled for the chance to high-five a few good friends and even more psyched make friends out of the honorees I haven’t yet met!

Ending 2021 pretty unceremoniously, with four kids at home, because - hi! - we're still in a pandemic. Pray for me to be asleep by nine! – at Arden Hills, MN

Oh. Tied for cringey: I was telling my team that there were typos on a slide. This was while that slide was being presented to a client. Yikes. – at Arden Hills, MN

'What is the most post-apocalyptic thing you've ever done?' for 100. 'That time when I took my children to a gutted department store and lined up with thousands of other parents for inoculation against a deadly virus.' And I would do it again. – at Bloomington, MN

Every time I get a Microsoft Teams invite, I die a little inside. Seriously, why is anyone still using that in year 2 of a pandemic?

I got advocate - even though I really really tried to answer questions that would get me a different answer!

I agree that liberal arts degrees are good for the collective. I just don't think liberal arts degrees are a practical investment for the individual (i.e. anyone who doesn't have a family safety net).
Every time I go to an event like parents' night at school with all these other old parents, I feel so adult. It's so dissonant.

You can send them my way any time, friend! Our team is frequently hiring + we're lucky to be building a new way of working together that values people, rest, creativity + excellence. We've found ourselves in a position where we are lucky recipients of the great resignation.
