We don't care about safety in the mornings. Everyone has a cell phone now with lights or you can carry a flashlight. We care about daylight after work.

Daylight Saving vs Standard Time
Which one would you rather do?
Making Daylight Saving time permanent would fill winter with sunrises after 8 AM, but would also give us later sunsets even in the winter.
Making Standard Time permanent would give us quite a few 4 to 5:30 AM sunrises with sunsets before 7:30 PM. In this setup we would never have a sunset after 8 PM in Arkansas. Most of the year would see sunset before 6:30.
To illustrate how things would change, I picked the longest and shortest days of the year!
Please note that sunrise and sunset times change based on location!

What would our summers look like if we remained on standard time?
If we eliminate the "advancing the clocks 1 hour" in March, then this is what June will look like with sunrise and sunsets.

As of Tuesday, sunrise starts getting later (5:55am on 7/2). Sunsets stay at their latest (8:54pm) until July 4th when they start getting earlier.

Reminder that low hanging clouds could be scud. We've had a lot of tornadoes this season, but scud is harmless, doesn't rotate, and looks sort of ragged.

No! We should spring forward and stay there! Never fall back!
Or keep the current system to prevent the sun from rising at 9 am in the winter and sunrise at 4 am in the summer
sleep doctors! Please listen to Prugh’s recent study which says that Permanent Standard Time is worse.

No! Absolutely Not!
Standard Time should NOT be permanent, otherwise the sun will rise at 4 am in the summer, that is a waste of daylight
Plus, there is no natural time and there is no healthier or unhealthier, good heal and bad health happens regardless of clock.
Twice a year, we move our clocks forward or backward. On March 10 at 2 am, we advance one hour, which will continue through November. The debate continues over adopting permanent DST or year-round standard time.

We're now in the second week of February and it's hard not to notice the days getting much longer now. Next week, Wilmington's sunrise will edge back inside 7 a.m... and in just over a month, with the help of Daylight Saving Time, sunsets will pass 6 and 7 p.m.

Daylight Saving Time begins March 10th, allowing for a 7:18pm sunset. Our first 8pm sunset of 2024 is April 29th!

Dave, I have to disagree. We should keep Daylight Saving Time. I like to have daylight last a while after work. This standard time is for the birds.
