🧡Please take care: This content references Indian Residential Schools.
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a solemn day to remember the First Nations, Métis and Inuit children who suffered and lost their lives at Indian Residential Schools, Indian Day Schools and other institutions, and to reflect on the lasting impacts across generations.
Members of the Senate Committee on Indigenous Peoples invited fellow senators to wear orange and come together in reflection on truth, respect and reconciliation.

He’s 92.
Our 92 year old former PM is more intelligent, classy & pragmatic than anyone working in the US government today.

The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.
The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.
We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.
Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.

Canada welcomes that the U.S. is now withdrawing its positions on discoverability and labelling and is confirming that measures to promote French language and Canadian culture will not be subject to future U.S. trade actions.
We look forward to further constructive U.S. clarifications on their other positions which would create the possibility of a mutually beneficial trade agreement that respects Canadian sovereignty.

Canada and the US are in an economic war, so I'm surprised that many PEI businesses, like the Redwater Restaurant and Delta, are still flying the American flag. The issue is not with individual Americans, but rather the Donald Trump Administration. Take the American flags down.

Canada is NOT the 51st state. Trump owes our friends and neighbors an apology for nearly 2 years of his boorish insults and jeers.
Canada IS Washington state’s biggest trading partner and our country’s closest ally.
Dump Trump’s tariffs. NO TRADE WAR. 🇺🇸🇨🇦

I don’t miss American alcohol. I don’t think about it. I won’t buy it any time soon.
But the primary reason for pulling it was to leverage it in trade bargaining. So, yeah, go ahead and trade it back. That’s the point.
Then the consumer can decide if they want to buy it.

I participated as a witness in the Senate's #TRCM study on local services by CBC/Radio-Canada and was glad to see their 7th recommendation emphasizing the importance of these services during emergencies, referencing the local news suspension in #PEI during the Covid-19 pandemic.
How can local news better serve communities across Canada?
A new Senate report examines CBC/Radio-Canada’s local services and opportunities to strengthen regional coverage.

ALT BILL C-230 An Act to amend the Financial Administration Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts (debt forgiveness registry) Private Member’s Bill C-230 would amend the Financial Administration Act to require the President of the Treasury Board to establish and maintain a public registry of large debts and obligations owed by certain entities to His Majesty — as well as claims against such entities — that have been remitted, forgiven, written off or waived. The bill also would make consequential amendments to other acts.
