Word fact of the day: ‘penguin’ is one of the few words in the dictionary of Welsh origin: it comes from ‘pen gwyn’, ‘white head’.
(And a reminder that penguins were also once known affectionately as ‘arsefeet’.)

This is such a beautiful tribute. At the Penguin Research Network, of which @loweryhannah1 was a founder member & inspiration, we all owe Hannah a huge debt of thanks for her help with our research. No-one knew #Penguin & @PenguinCollSoc minutiae like her. We miss her terribly.

I missed the 40th anniversary of Nikolaus Pevsner's death in August. Pa & I were talking of him last night. More than anyone else, he has been the most influential person in Pa's & my life together. He influenced so many discussions & trips. Thanks, Nikolaus, for every last word.
