Nearly 3 million New Yorkers are at risk of losing their SNAP benefits on November 1 — because Congress failed to do its job. Let’s be clear: @lawler4ny already voted for a reckless budget that gutted $300 billion from food assistance — a bill that passed by just one vote. That single decision put meals for millions on the line, including more than 18,000 families right here in NY-17 who rely on SNAP just to get by.  No family should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from because of political games in Washington. I’ve led missions overseas where failure wasn’t an option, and it shouldn’t be one here at home. Feeding families isn’t politics.

Disbanding a 74 year old committee that has guided women’s expanded service to our military is just stupid. This is about having the world’s best military to keep America safe. Having the best military means seeking out the best PEOPLE and setting conditions for their peak performance to defend our country. Decision after decision from Hegseth just shows his priority is compensating for his own personal insecurity and incompetence, not what is best for America. We deserve better. I served for 16 years in the army, deploying 6 times overseas. Our military is stronger when every capable American who wants to raise their hand and swear an oath to defend our country is able to do so. Period.
