UPDATE: Reports indicate a growing crackdown on medical professionals in Iran, doctors and healthcare workers arrested after treating wounded protesters.
Among those named:
Dr Alireza Rezaei, urologist, Tehran
Matin Moradian, healthcare worker, Mashhad
Dr Saber Dehghan, neurosurgeon, Sirjan
Dr Farhad Nadali, a general surgeon in Gorgan
Dr Ameneh Soleimani in Ardebil
Colleagues are being detained not for violence, but for providing care and, reportedly, for documenting injuries. This pattern suggests an attempt to intimidate medical staff: don’t treat, don’t record, don’t bear witness.
Medical neutrality is a core ethical duty. Treating the wounded is not a crime. Silencing doctors endangers everyone.

⚠️ Update: #Iran's internet blackout is now past the 60 hour mark as national connectivity levels continue to flatline around 1% of ordinary levels.
The censorship measure presents a direct threat to the safety and wellbeing of Iranians at a key moment for the country's future.

Thank you @RSNA for the opportunity to present our works on ML radiomics predicting post #OLT #HCC recurrence and on metabolic factors shaping post-ablation outcomes.
A truly valuable experience.

AI is already here, are radiology residents actually being trained for it, and how? Our study is now published in @AcadRadiol. Thoughts?

A new UCLA study may explain why some liver tumors return after heat-based treatment. Researchers found that a protein, Galectin-1, helps cancer cells survive and regrow. Blocking it could make therapy more effective and reduce recurrence.

2025 UCLA Abdominal Imaging Fellowship & Research Graduation 🎓
80+ publications and 8 academic awards (RSNA, SIR, JVIR, SABI, GEST, NAIRS…), but gained even more through growth and learning.
Excited for the next chapter, staying optimistic for the future.
Our recent study, led by @JChiang795, was published in #Hepatology.
We elucidated the metabolic impact of Galectin-1 (a β-galactoside-binding protein) that mediates hyperthermia resistance in #HCC and may serve as a therapeutic target to reduce rapid progression after thermal #ablation. #Livercancer #AASLD @AASLDtweets
