@waiwainu: "Addressing the root causes of conflict is vital for ensuring women’s full participation in #Myanmar’s future. And when the key perpetrators of decades of atrocities remain unpunished — like in Myanmar — impunity is the root cause." #WPS

🗣️ @OfficialMariamS: “For #WPS to function...it has to have 1 thing – the flexibility & political will to be able to be implemented in states where there are #authoritarian & #totalitarian regimes. If it cannot function in these regimes–which are increasing–it will not work.”

At the “Peace Talks and Gender” panel hosted by the EU at the UN, I strongly advocated for the recognition of #GenderApartheid in international law, particularly within the framework of the Crimes Against Humanity Convention currently being drafted. I urged the establishment of safe digital platforms to empower Afghan women’s activism, the bolstering of women’s rights organizations and businesses, and the importance of recognizing and amplifying the diverse voices of Afghan women in global conversations.

We were pleased to help organize this closed-door discussion this morning with colleagues and partners on the dire situation of #HumanRights in Afghanistan. #WomenPeaceSecurity
This morning as part of #WPS week, 🇮🇪 hosted a discussion on the situation in Afghanistan. The large scale exclusion & deprivation of women’s rights in Afghanistan represents a total disrespect for human dignity. Women & girls must be included in discussions relating to their country. Ireland will continue to call for their full, equal & meaningful participation.
