A guy in my neighborhood bought a treadmill in January.
Normal thing...
What was unusual was that he wouldn't stop talking about it.
Every conversation somehow came back to fitness.
He had a workout plan.
A meal plan.
A sleep schedule.
According to him, this was the year everything changed.
For the first week, we all saw him on that treadmill.
Second week too.
By the third week, the excitement had died down.
Nobody mentioned it anymore.
Then one day I went over to borrow a tool.
The treadmill was still there.
But it wasn't being used for exercise.
It was covered in jackets.
A backpack was hanging from one side.
There was even a box sitting on the belt.
The thing had become a very expensive closet.
I pointed at it and asked, "What happened to the fitness journey?"
He looked at the treadmill, looked at me, and said,
"It turns out buying exercise equipment and wanting to exercise are two completely different hobbies."
Honestly, it was the most relatable thing I'd heard all year.

I'm pregnant and I don't know who the father is.
I need you to keep reading before you judge me because this is not the story you think it is.
I have been with my boyfriend for four years. Faithful and committed.
We had been talking about starting a family. It was on the table. It was a conversation we had had more than once.
So when I found out I was pregnant I was nervous but not scared. I bought the test on a Thursday, sat on the bathroom floor for six minutes, and then called him.
He was happy. Genuinely happy. We even cried a little..
Two days later I went for my first scan.
The doctor looked at the screen for a long time. Then she looked at me..
She said "how far along do you think you are?"
I said maybe six, seven weeks. Based on my last period.
She said "this baby is measuring closer to twelve weeks."
I sat up.
Twelve weeks.
I did the math in the car on the way home. Sitting in the passenger seat while my boyfriend drove and talked about baby names..
Twelve weeks ago I was not with my boyfriend...
