It's funny how one of the biggest complaints about Dark Souls II, the HP drain, is also one of its more thoughtful mechanics.
Every death brings you closer to hollowing, slowly wearing down your determination alongside your character's humanity. You understand why so many undead lose the will to keep going.
And what restores what you've lost? A Human Effigy, a reminder of who you are.

Oh no, don't talk about how he's been terrorizing Inazuma for centuries, and quite literally fueled and supported Dottore's megalomaniac ideas. Don't bring up that he thought Paimon was worthless because Irmin didn't acknowledge her, so he ignored her whilst leaving her in the Cataclysm to die.
He's just her silly dad after all.
What do you mean Pantalone tried to kill Traveler & Paimon just before we entered Snezhnaya last patch? Water under the bridge! We must kill Ronova because she tried to take Paimon and that makes her irredeemable, let's team up Pantalone!
Pulcinella and Pantalone fight all the time? No they don't, it's actually Columbina and the Tsaritsa that despise each other if you've read my AO3 fanfic.
Who cares if Sandrone brought the Trilune Goddess back, saved the world, sacrificed herself to save Traveler, and attempted to mend the relationship with the Scions, she tried to take over Nod-Krai! Unforgivable!
Hmm? Pierro did too? As well as Inazuma & Sumeru, killed many innocents, and directed many atrocities across Teyvat?
...welllllll he gave Paimon a blanky so I guess I can forgive him!

C.S. Lewis basically predicted (and warned against) short-form global media

ALT It is one of the evils of rapid diffusion of news that the sorrows of all the world come to us every morning. I think each village was meant to feel pity for it’s own sick and poor whom it can help and I doubt if it is the duty of any private person to fix his mind on ills which he cannot help. (This may even become an escape from the works of charity we really can do to those we know). A great many people do now seem think that the mere state of being worried is in itself meritorious. I don’t think it is. We must, if it so happens, give our lives for others: but even while we’re doing it, I think we’re meant to enjoy Our Lord and, in Him, our friends, our food, our sleep, your jokes, and the birds song and the frosty sunrise.

Scrolling Twitter right now is very bad for my psyche, every tweet on my timeline is either a video of some small business owner getting his life ruined by pillagers or leftist zoomers praising the pillaging because muh French Revolution was violent so we have to destroy society

Given the riots spreading across europe right now, a brief observation: the negro mind can't comprehend a riot as political action. They simply see it as an opportunity to commit crime without recompense. They don't go after police to "attack the system" they simply see the police as a barrier to their crime spree.

The hottest day ever officially recorded in Australia, using a standard Stevenson screen at a government weather station, was 125 °F (51.7 °C) on Sunday, 3 January 1909, at Bourke, New South Wales.
For decades this was long recognised as Australia’s hottest day.
However, it didn’t fit the “global warming” narrative. For if, as alarmists assert that “climate change” is causing unprecedented record heat, how could our hottest-ever day have occurred back in 1909?
So just as Orwell described in 1984, the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) rewrote history. "Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute ….. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
The BOM’s excuse for erasing this record was that the observer at the Bourke Post Office in January 1909 supposedly made a mistake. "Observer error" someone at the BOM decided from a desk in Canberra a century later.
The BOM’s justification for declaring it a “mistake” was the assertion that no nearby weather station recorded a similar temperature spike on the same day, so therefore the 125 °F reading at Bourke must have been an error.
But that claim by the BOM is a LIE.
Before COVID, I personally visited the Australian National Archives to examine the original handwritten meteorological observation books because I no longer trusted the BOM after some of their earlier data manipulations.
The archived observation book from the official weather station at Brewarrina — the nearest official station to Bourke, just 100 km away — recorded a maximum temperature of 50.6 °C (123 °F) on the very same day in January 1909. The hottest temperature ever recorded there.
Thus, we had two official government weather stations only 100 km apart both independently recorded extreme heat on the same day: Bourke 125 °F and Brewarrina 123 °F.
Game, set, match.
The Bourke record must be reinstated and the BOM held accountable for their malfeasance and fraudulent attempt to rewrite our history.
One of my regrets is that the human-rights abuses inflicted upon Australians during the COVID years, along with the malfeasance at the TGA, distracted me from pursuing this matter in Parliament further at the time.
Any organisation that can so brazenly and fraudulently tamper with historical data, as the BOM has done, simply cannot be trusted.
I’d bet London to a brick that the very same people at the BOM who fraudulently altered our climate history have their fingers all over the $100 million of taxpayers’ money they’ve spent “updating their website”.
There should be a full investigation into the Bureau of Meteorology.
I volunteer to head it.
I wonder on the BOMs new $100 million website, how much historical data they purged ?
