Today I got fed up with algorithmic feeds showing me ✨engaging✨ content, and quickly cooked up Codex skill to curate me a personalized ad-free feed from my personal preferences
Instead of likes, I added a field where I can write a feedback in natural language, and at some point ask the agent to analyze feedback, and tweak my preferences accordingly. For example, I don't like reading interviews, so I put it in the feedback, and agent later understood that this is an important thing to note in the preferences
github.com/Ahineya/pheed contains the code, as well as howto
I was in the elevator today, and looked at the old scratched dirty refractive door.
And then spent an indecent amount of time to make this lens in glsl, trying to capture similar imperfections, but for the "glass"
Remixable version with a bunch of sliders to play with is here: shady.channel/p/lens

Making some fancy shader art in Shady, this time just a single-shader, without going crazy audio-video modulation. Well, except an additional dithering shader on top — and I think it look cool with that pixelation
Here it is, remixable shady.channel/p/radial-apost…
Today I tried to unzip a file, and Unarchiver has shown me an ad while uncompressing. App package contained telemetry framework. Great shortcut to become a deleted app.
My Adam tracker now looks like a weird spaceship — and I love it. The most important thing is that it feels fun to mess with patterns in it. I think this is very important property for creative apps
I absolutely love working on complex interfaces. Here is one of my recent pet projects, a small-ish fantasy-console-like music tracker called Adam.
Such UI presents a classic challenge of rendering enormous interactive grids in DOM, and making sure that app chrome and audio engine are not too tangled
Also, this is one of a very few projects of mine where I felt like I really need themes 😁
I accidentally made scripting in Curva so powerful that realized that nothing stops me now from writing simple games right within the vector editor (ignore it lagging on the video, I am working on performance 😁)
Luau rules by the way, so easy to integrate with Rust/Wasm
Added previews for Curva documents in Finder. Such a weird OS mechanism.
Good thing I made .curva files zip-based format, and threw thumb.png inside
I just realized that vector network-based editor is suspiciously close to 3d editing software, and added Extrude tool to Curva
Playing around in Shady, purely for fun and exploration. I love that in Shady the distance between idea and the result is very short, so I made it the default creative coding tool for myself.
Hammer is a perfect tool: it does not try to sell me a monthly subscription. It helps me to do my task, and then I can happily forget it exists until the next time I need it. Modern software though constantly tries to keep me ✨engaged✨
For Curva, I made a completely custom retained tile-based renderer. I added these fascinating rendering modes for the lecture I'm preparing on the architecture of complex editors. One renders only the triangles to show tessellation, and another shows the tile boundaries, making it easy to inspect how the renderer partitions and updates the scene.
For the past few years I made a bunch of a pretty hardcore solo projects. Here is one: curva.design
Vector + prototyping + constraint-based animation + MCP + a lot of other amazing things under the hood
Wrapping it as a desktop app via @TauriApps now
Today I’ve improved the speed of a particular frames matching algorithm. Made it 100x faster by calculating everything in WebGL2 shader.
From 20fps to 2000fps.
Today I played with a Skia library. Was able to achieve a CPU rendering with compiling it to Webassembly.
My goal is a hardware accelerated rendering though, and the lack of documentation combined with nearly nonexistent articles on the topic aren’t exactly speeding things up 🙂
I ordered a chair a couple a week ago or so, because my back kills me.
It came today, unassembled.
The closest assembly date is in one week.
Turkish service kills me 😅
