Interstellar is now live.
The last few weeks, we broke down what was changing under the hood.
Today, those improvements are live: greater EVM compatibility, more modern tooling for builders, and stronger foundations for scale.
The protocol gets better when builders have less infrastructure to fight.
Over the last two days we've covered the new EVM opcodes and the cryptographic precompiles landing with VIP-255.
Today, part three, the finale: the core protocol improvements sitting underneath both.
Part 3: Interstellar Explained - Core Protocol Improvements
EIP-2935 - historical block hashes from state: Block hashes for the most recent 8,191 blocks served through a contract, using Ethereum's exact calling convention.
Human version: VeChainThor always had the receipts, filed in its own system. This puts them in the drawer Ethereum tools already know how to open.
How it changes VeChain: VeChainThor already holds that history in state through the Extension built-in contract, so lookups resolve against Extension and return VeChainThor block IDs rather than Keccak hashes, making this an interface fix rather than new capability.
Long term impact: proof systems and light-client designs written for Ethereum port across without a VeChainThor-specific rewrite.
EIP-7825 - transaction gas limit cap: A hard ceiling of 16,777,216 gas on any single transaction.
Human version: No single transaction gets to hog the whole block any more. Queue etiquette, enforced by the protocol.
How it changes VeChain: Bounding the worst case holds 10-second block times steady when demand spikes, and it matters more here than on a single-clause chain, because a multi-clause transaction can otherwise stretch across most of a block on its own.
Long term impact: predictable block times are what enterprise integrations get procured on, and a bounded worst case is what allows capacity to rise later without the tail risk rising with it.
EIP-7934 - block size limit: A ceiling of 8 MiB on the encoded block.
Human version: A limit on how fat a block is allowed to get. Keeps running a node in normal-computer territory rather than data-centre territory.
How it changes VeChain: Gas accounting alone does not bound how physically large a block can grow, which leaves room to bloat blocks with cheap data and slow propagation across the network, so a byte-level cap closes that gap.
Long term impact: node cost stays flat as usage climbs, and node cost determines how widely validation can be distributed.
For VeChain, this is the layer that keeps the last two parts honest. Cheaper opcodes and native cryptography don't count for much if block times start slipping or running a node gets too expensive for anyone but a data centre.
These three changes are what keep VeChainThor fast, predictable, and decentralised as more builders and more transactions land on it.
For enterprise especially, this is the boring but essential part: predictable block times and stable node costs are the structural guarantees that get a network past procurement in the first place.
That's the whole of VIP-255, eleven EIPs across three parts.
The upgrade goes live at Block Height 25,902,540 on Wed 16 Sep 2026, 11:15:10 UTC (estimated)! Which of the three parts stood out to you most? Tell us below 👇
VeSemen is now fully integrated on VeChainStats ⚡️
Already quite some on-chain activity:
• 23,841 NFTs minted
• 5,185 burned
• 34,000+ transfer events
• 70 holders
Follow the collection, holders and activity as it develops 👇

How are we liking the new @VeChainStats search update so far? ⚡️
Also, don’t forget you can request address tags. If you spot an address we’re missing, send it in!
The more addresses we label, the easier @vechainofficial on-chain activity becomes to navigate and understand

Great news, VeFam!
The Interstellar vote has officially passed quorum - marking the start of the next phase of protocol expansion for VeChain.
This is a major upgrade, with a lot to unpack. This week, we will deep-dive into its implications on the future of $VET.
Congrats!🤝
VeFam, the Interstellar Network Upgrade is in your hands.
If you are eligible, cast your vote on VIP-255 before voting closes at 00:00 UTC on 17/08/2026, and help shape the next chapter of VeChainThor.

VeChain Hayabusa has now been active for around 6 months, and the staking numbers are becoming increasingly interesting! ⚡️
A growing share of $VET is being delegated, with total VET staked now at 15.07B. That equals 17.5% of the total supply.
What stands out most is that VET staking APY has remained sustainable and even increased compared to the start of the program, while total VET staked keeps climbing.
Current stats:
• 15.07B VET staked
• 17.5% of total supply
• Estimated APY range: 2.3% to 11.6%
The validator landscape has changed quite a bit since launch as well, with more professional infrastructure providers and recognizable entities coming online.
Among the publicly identifiable names now active:
• 2 Binance.US validators
• 1 Binance validator
• 6 Bitvavo validators
• Redeno
• BitGo
And there may be more large entities behind validators that are not publicly known yet.
Great to see more $VET being put to work.

Most expensive VeChain transaction to date? 👀
Dynamic gas fees made it possible to pay extra for priority placement, and average VTHO paid per clause has been creeping up since.
But this transaction is in a league of its own:
43,579,597 Gwei priority fee
40,774 VTHO paid for 1 clause (> 20 USD)

Nice update from VeChain Stats.
VeProof has now verified its smart contract too.
Transparency matters:
✅ public source code
✅ easier verification
✅ more trust for users
Small step, but an important one.

Smart contract verification should be the standard, not an afterthought.
Together with @SourcifyEth, we created contract verification tools for VeChain developers, making it easier to prove what your contract actually does and give your users more confidence when interacting with it.
Once verified, your contract becomes more transparent on VeChainStats. Users can inspect it, understand it and interact directly through read and write calls instead of relying on blind trust.
That is better for developers, better for users and better for the ecosystem.

We’ve upgraded the @VeChainStats richlist ⚡️
Introducing VET (incl. staking), which combines:
• Liquid $VET
• Stargate node balances
• Validator endorsement stake
No more fragmented balances. Just a clear view of the $VET whales 🐋

Some notable validator additions on VeChain recently 🔎💹
A validator from Binance and four from Bitvavo, each staking the maximum 600M $VET, have joined
A few things this impacts:
- In the past 2 weeks we've noted a ~9% increase in VTHO generation. Since VTHO output scales with total staked VET, all node holders benefit. We’re already seeing a lift in staking APY, particularly for X-Nodes.
- Exchanges choosing to run validators shows they consider the $VET staking secure and attractive
- It also opens the door for native VET staking on exchanges, making yield accessible to users who don’t want to manage their own wallets.
All in all: good news for $VET stakers - curious to see if we'll see more exchanges join in the future!

We've seen millions of Tx from enterprise partners in the past few days, & demonstrated the real world benefits of our Tx model.
One transaction carries many 'sub transactions', increasing hash efficiency, reducing fees, & boosting scalability.
Web3 with utility = VeChain $VET
One of Blockchain's key value adds is as a trust layer for shared data - whether for verifying authenticity of luxury goods, or the journey of a product from farm to fork - it makes information trustless.
VeChainThor saves time, money & effort - the holy trinity of value.
