Lancashire is losing out because we don’t have a Mayor. We need one to secure the investment we deserve – and fast!
Your postcode shouldn’t determine the quality of services you receive from your council. That’s why devolution is so crucial.
I love Lancashire and it deserves proper investment, not whatever's left over at the end of the year!
We have our best shot in a generation to get a real devolution deal and an elected mayor for the county, which brings with it proper long-term funding, and I'm not letting it drop. I'll keep pushing until we get the meeting, and the investment we deserve. I'm pleased the First Secretary of State, Louise Haigh MP, is on our side.

(1/3) We've seen some misleading headlines over the weekend suggesting men can no longer get a free #PSABloodTest from their GP.
That's not the case.
I’ve just finished watching tonight’s @BBCPanorama on the Child Maintenance Service, and I have to say I found it tough viewing.
I know all too well that these stories are not isolated. Every week, I hear from constituents who are struggling with the CMS, from parents who are owed money they desperately need to support their children, and parents who are dealing with errors and decisions that are causing enormous stress and anxiety.
No parent should be left choosing between putting food on the table and meeting other basic costs because the system that is supposed to help them isn’t working as it should.
The Child Maintenance Service was introduced to replace the old Child Support Agency, which itself was widely criticised for the poor service it provided. It is simply not good enough that, all these years later, families are still experiencing such serious problems.
It's simply unacceptable, and I will continue to question Ministers about what is being done to fix these failures and ensure the CMS works properly for children and families.
If you are a constituent and have experienced problems with the Child Maintenance Service, I’d be interested to hear from you. I want to know how much this is affecting people locally, and I want to make sure your experiences continue to be raised. If you’d prefer to contact me privately about your case please email [email protected]

After much campaigning, this is really positive and could be the breakthrough moment for Chorley and South Ribble Hospital. 🏥🚑
Today I challenged the Secretary of State, James Murray MP, on why NHS England has been blocking full A&E reinstatement.
Watch what he had to say here:
Today I stood up in Westminster Hall for the millions of people across the UK living with heart disease.
Last year, following a routine health check, I was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. I'm completely symptom free right now, but at some point in the future I'll need open heart surgery to replace my valve. I'm in the safe hands of the NHS, but it's brought home to me just how many families are quietly dealing with something similar.
I was also proud to be joined by representatives from the @TheBHF, who are this month marking 65 years of funding the research that has saved countless lives. Without them, many of us simply wouldn't be here.

A central Lancashire MP says Sir Keir Starmer’s resignation has created a “huge opportunity” for the government to be more bold in dealing with the daily challenges faced by households across the country.

It’s been a relatively uneventful weekend in politics, so I thought I’d put a few thoughts down…

Dozens of boats and engines have been seized in Germany that could have been used to transport more than 2,000 illegal migrants to the UK.
More than 50 boats and engines and over 9,000 life jackets were seized in several locations as part of a joint @NCA_UK investigation.
