I expected a blowout. Instead, I got another reminder that close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. My latest Against All Odds tackles the Northwestern loss and what’s left of the Spartans’ bowl hopes. #MSU spartansillustrated.com/arti…

Michigan State QB Alessio Milivojevic took accountability for mistakes in the 24-21 loss to Northwestern on Saturday. He also believes the team will remain together. “I know we’re going to go back in and work, and prepare to go win the next game.” Read: spartansillustrated.com/arti…

I stopwatched that last play twice. Both times under 4 seconds. ND should have had a second shot at it. 🤷‍♂️
Did nobody see that there was a second left?

For reference, in the preseason Kenpom rankings, Oregon Sate is ranked nine spots below the weakest Big Ten team, Northwestern.
Michigan defeats Oregon State in an exhibition in Crisler, 98-93. What stands out?

This is nowhere close to the level of stupid required to expand the NCAA Basketball Tournament... but it is still pretty stupid. The people creating these proposals and voting yes on them need to be fired and put out on the street where they belong
Breaking: The College Football Playoff is nearing a deal to expand to 24 teams, sources tell @PeteThamel. The new format will start in 2027 and is expected to come together in the near future, pending final approvals.

Now and then, I think of when Aidan Chiles was a Spartan... This week’s Bad Betting Advice looks at his return to East Lansing, Pat Fitzgerald’s reunion with Northwestern, and a Week 7 board filled with upset possibilities. #MichiganState spartansillustrated.com/arti…

There were a lot of good things that Michigan State showed against Illinois on Saturday, but the Spartans ultimately came one-point short in OT. Chase Glasser breaks down what he saw from MSU against the Fighting Illini in this week’s film room. Watch: spartansillustrated.com/arti…

When Michigan State trailed Illinois 17-0, I was prepared to declare the patient deceased. The final 38 minutes changed the diagnosis. MSU is still ill, but is there a light that never goes out? Check out the all the updated odds here: spartansillustrated.com/arti… #MichiganState

Holding is a judgment call. Pass interference is a judgment call. Whether a player crossed the line before the ball was kicked should be a matter of fact. He either did or he didn’t.
Reached out to the Big Ten for explanation on the offsides penalty on Samson Gash's onside recovery. Big Ten says that because offsides is a judgment call play, per the rulebook it is not reviewable.

Editorial comment about the English language. "Resilience" is a word. "Resiliency" is technically a synonym, but "resilience" is the more common and accepted version of the word. Please, stop using "resiliency." It just sounds dumb every time I hear someone say it.

This was called offsides by the officials, taking away Michigan State’s recovered onsides kick. This was the fourth suspicious call (or no-call) going against MSU in this game. Just a stunning day for the refs in this MSU - Illinois game.
