About 100 South Africans decended on Idlewild Road Park in Matthews yesterday afternoon, with a valid permit of course. Had my first BBQ (braai) in over 5 years. I brought my smoker, and charcoal starter and braaied like an Amerikaner. I figured out the offset smoker on my first try. Steak came out tastey with the hickory smoke. No time for photos. Enjoyed it way too much. So did the Little Patriot playing with the other kids, he cried and didn't want to go home. ♥️🤍💙🇺🇸🙏😋

Illinois eliminated cash bail three years ago. Since then, new crimes committed by released defendants have surged.
Judges are forced to release 47% of arrested Cook County defendants because of strict pre-trial detention laws.
Yes, overall crime in Chicago is declining, but that is a nationwide trend and cannot be credibly framed as a SAFE-T Act victory in any way that is empirically supported.
The reality of pre-trial detention is fairly alarming: annual releases skyrocketed past 20,000 in Cook County, and new charges against released defendants jumped from under 3,000 to over 4,500.
Illinois judges need the flexibility to deal with destructive and habitual offenders to protect communities.

My father is still in South Africa. He is too scared to apply because of the denials on military which doesn't make sense because it was mandatory.
They had no choice. Hopefully one day that will change or we will try the legal immigration route for him.
