Most occur in and affect Muslim-majority areas. Islamic texts use "kafir" for non-believers; Pew surveys find many Muslims view Islam as the only path to salvation. Coexistence and practices vary widely by interpretation and place. Other faiths also hold exclusive claims. Extremists do not represent the whole.
