It's my main issue with how much games are stripping away any "pain points" because a lot of the gaming public equate always succeeding= smooth gameplay. If you always win, what's the point of playing? Loss, character death, setbacks are what makes winning all the sweeter.
I don't think people realize that when games are being made for people who don't really want to engage with it because they're loud enough it gets to a point where it does kind of affect the product and thus other people's experiences as well. And this is kind of that point.

A lot of you are missing the forest for the trees here, so allow me to explain. The existence of these features, in and of themselves, is NOT a bad thing. But let's look at what we've learned over the last few weeks: ❌ No physical copy ❌ No hard mode ❌ Content cut from the OG Meanwhile, Square Enix has chosen to showcase: ✅ Fast-forward through cutscenes ✅ Auto-leveling ✅ Overbearing hand-holding ✅ Skipping map and sidequest exploration Do you see the problem? Features and content that traditionally catered to dedicated FF7 and RPG fans are seemingly being sacrificed at the altar of appealing to casual audiences who don't particularly enjoy the fundamental mechanics, exploration, or challenges that define the genre. And THAT is what people are criticizing. Accessibility is one thing. Diluting the identity of a game to broaden its appeal is another entirely. Nobody is arguing that optional convenience features shouldn't exist. But when those features become the centerpiece of your marketing while traditional RPG content and challenges are being stripped away, people have EVERY RIGHT to question Square Enix's priorities, design philosophy, and intended audience. You can welcome newcomers without abandoning the audience that made your franchise what it is. You can make an RPG more approachable without designing around people who fundamentally don't enjoy RPGs. And you can respect a player's time without treating the gameplay itself as an inconvenience to be bypassed. A game for everybody is a game for nobody. And frankly, RPGs aren't for everyone. Nor should they have to be.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will let players automatically level up their characters if they want to skip grinding and focus on the main story. Director Naoki Hamaguchi said the feature was added after feedback from players who enjoyed Rebirth’s main story but weren’t interested in completing all the side content. Skipping those activities could leave characters underleveled and make story battles harder. In Revelation, the game will ask players at certain points: “Do you want to automatically raise the level to the recommended level?” If they choose yes, their characters will be brought up to the recommended level, allowing them to continue the story without spending extra time farming XP. Hamaguchi also explained how the game handles its large amount of content: “We wanted players to be excited that there’s so much to do in this game.” “Rather than being overwhelmed by choice, players can decide what they do and what they don’t want to do.”

All the clips people are sharing to "prove" auto jumping is bad just makes me think of those infomercials where people struggle with basic stuff like using cutlery or their toaster.
I love auto jumping and I will defend it till the day I die

"Don't criticize it until you play it" is the most bullshit, anti-consumer narrative in the gaming industry right now. Game devs are responsible for CONVINCING players to buy their games, we owe them nothing. If ANYTHING looks like you don't like it in a game, you should be LOUD about it, so the devs have a chance to correct it, or stick with their vision and the game just isn't for you (which is also ok) This narrative needs to die, they are creating a PRODUCT for us

No surprise who is now downplaying ONE aspect of the #PSBlackout. And media assists with demoralizing posts lacking context. Bravo! Exactly what corpos want. Blackout is successful in many regards, though. Was never meant to solve everything in a week, ofc. Keep it up! Stay loud!

“gamers have decided fates for games before they ever play them” Can we stop pretending you have to play a game to see its obvious lack of quality? Marketing, reviews, trailers are there to guide your judgement for a reason I don’t have to drop $70 on a bad game to see it’s bad
Videogames is probably the least enjoyable community to be a part of. Once a narrative starts, nothing else matters. No nuance, no discussion, just parroting whatever opinion sounds cool to you at the time. Wolverine is the most recent victim (havent played yet so it very well may be not good) but gamers have decided fates for games way before they ever play them. Yall let Midnight Suns flop, let Guardians of the Galaxy flop. Swore to god that FF13 sucks. MGS4 and MGS5 were not appreciated in their time (now it's cool to like them so of course they get praise lol). If you liked Death Stranding when it came out, you caught SOOOOO MUCH SHIT for playing a "UPS Simulator." People will seriously try to tell you that Persona 3 Reload or FF7R are actually bad video games. Like holy fuck does anyone on this hellhole actually play videogames?

Imagine you've been going to a restaurant for years. The restaurant is doing well, they're not hurting for money, staff's paid well, they make great food. You take your friends, they love it. They bring their friends, they love it. Then one day, a new group shows up and they start saying "I like this, but it needs to change because I'd like it better this way." Suddenly, they're on Facebook, saying your favorite dish is too spicy. They need to take onions out of the salad, all the food should be vegan because they think meat is murder... Unfortunately, this is the sort of thing that happens in gaming. New "fans" show up, but the only thing they have to say is that things about the game need to change. These are often things fundamental to why the original fans loved the game. Is it all new fans? No, of course not. But it happens enough that a gamer's butthole will pucker when they see new people flooding in.
Why do people get bothered when a franchise they like gets new fans?

They're likely testing from compressed Youtube footage, which is how they got so much wrong before the Switch 2 released.
‼️🚨Análisis técnico de Digital Foundry sobre el remake de The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. ✅El juego se ejecuta a 1080p y 60 FPS sin implementar DLSS para escalado de imagen. 📶Los gráficos usan un motor propio o de socio, y no Unreal Engine 5.

if you don't like it, just say you don't like it but don't try to guess at the intention of the original creators when it's the same creators who had their hands in the remake
Bro they turned what was a cold and oppressive looking fortress into a cozy little looking town. In an effort to beautify every area to serve as a visual showcase, they end up, stripping away the intentional tone set by the original creators.

"We will be better off without discs" No no, what you mean is CEO's (like yourself) and corporation profits will be better without discs. WE THE PLAYERS WILL NOT. WE THE PLAYERS DECIDE WHATS GOOD FOR THE PLAYERS. Penny pinchers like yourself - DO NOT. Nintendo is winning right now and its not difficult to understand why.
Discs are an old technology that create compromises which shouldn't be necessary; the digital download after the fact makes more needless work for devs. We will be better off without discs. People blasting Square Enix for not adding MORE DISCS for MORE COST are part of the problem. Someone saying "You should have a worse profit margin to satisfy me" is a worse customer than a digital customer, as I have pointed out multiple times. Sure, there was a plausible future where publishers charged limited edition versions with a physical pressing for a premium, like records that cost $40 for a vinyl over $10 for the digital-- but drive manufacturing itself is going away, making that point moot.

If you've been looking at the Ocarina of Time Remake and thinking it looks AI generated... trust me, there's deliberate references there that are very much what Nintendo has used to build up the Legend of Zelda world! #legendofzelda #zelda #ocarinaoftime #nintendo #nintendoswitch

So thaaaat's what we call a headcannon and not anything explicitly said in the game and shouldn't be used as a criticism of developers changing the puzzle.
Funny this change makes this room LESS realistic. The original idea was the spiders of Ganon's curse stole the ladder and stuck it in their web and you shoot it down back where it belongs. Now it's some bizarre ladder-dispensing machine someone made. #Zelda #OoT #OcarinaofTime

The new zelda OOT artstyle looks great & as the creators intended. You can dislike it, but you're objectively wrong & insulting if you're claiming to fix it, claiming they didn't execute on their inspiration, claiming it's over designed & worse using AI images to make your point.

How dare the original creators choose how to remake their own game. Clearly we know better than them

Adding details is the exact point of a remake, which is why this isn't a 1:1 port. That is what the 3DS port was. This exact type of nitpicking, is why most gamers are adverse to change. Even if it's the most surface level elements. Old man yelling at the clouds energy.
Replying to @Black_D_Gamer1
diffrence between graphical fidelety and art. Adding more details, higher fidelety light is not the problem. The fidelity lead the project look, not the other way around. Wich make this game look technically solid but far from what the original was.

Maybe I'm the weirdo here but I don't really understand the point of this. If you want the original design you can just play the original game (or the nice looking 3DS port). What's the point of remaking the game and making everything look the same
