Grok @Bot upgrades
Grok Bot 0.71.2 is out, and this is a very huge upgrade
You can now send files up to 250 MB, and videos up to 1 GB. Full-length clips, raw footage, long recordings, big reports and heavy PDFs can go straight to Grok Bot without compressing, trimming or splitting anything first
You can also send up to 20 files in a single message. Drop an entire batch of photos, screenshots or documents at once and let Grok Bot work through all of them together
Notifications are smarter, so you hear about what actually matters, when it matters
And forms now arrive pre-filled. Grok Bot fills in what it already knows, so you just check and confirm instead of typing everything again
This update is really good
The value of Terafab’s output will place it in the top 20 of country GDP in a single building
According to Korean media, Elon Musk's Terafab is now talking to almost EVERY Korean chip supplier it can find.
Until now, the only known Korean suppliers were HPSP and Hanmi Semiconductor.
Now TheElec reports that Tesla and SpaceX are in talks across nearly every category Korean companies can supply, from basic piping parts to process materials to test components.
At SEMICON West in San Francisco last week, Terafab staff walked straight to around 10 Korean booths on the morning of day one, including ENF Technology, Dongjin Semichem, Hanmi Semiconductor, Unisem and MiCo.
Several companies have already signed NDAs. One got an NDA by email the same evening Terafab visited its booth.
Hanmi Semiconductor is discussing TC bonders for Terafab, and HPSP has agreed to supply one high pressure hydrogen annealing tool to the R&D line.
MiCo's cleaning unit Komico signed a three way NDA with Tesla and SpaceX about a month ago, and ISC is already swapping samples for rubber test sockets.
Tesla and SpaceX do not buy from Chinese suppliers. One Korean supplier put it simply, without China there are only a few options, and Japan is expensive.
They also want prices that are CHEAPER than China.
$LRCX and $AMAT have reportedly built dedicated Terafab teams, and Fujifilm is meeting Terafab buyers regularly on slurries, photoresist and etchants.
The goal is a fab with 1 million wafer starts per month within 10 years, with $16.8 billion of initial investment and more than 3,000 jobs.
SpaceX broke ground in Grimes County, Texas this month, and the first 100,000 wafer per month phase is expected before 2030.
Logic is being done with $INTC, talks with $TSM are ongoing, and memory will be built separately.
One supplier said that if they email Terafab in the middle of the night in the United States, they get an answer in 30 minutes to an hour.
$TSLA and $SPCX are building a chip supply chain at Elon speed.

Elon Musk's warning about the backup plan for stopping a super AI that won't shut down:
The most powerful AI won't run on your phone or your laptop.
It'll live in a small number of server centers, each with something like 100,000 powerful computers working together.
Which means it can't hide.
Elon: "you can just look at the heat signature from space and it'll be very obvious."
So he's not suggesting anyone blow these places up.
He's suggesting a contingency plan.
Give the government the ability to cut the power. Or cut the connectivity.
When would you use it?
He admits he doesn't have a precise answer.
But if we ever lost control of a super AI, and the normal software commands like admin passwords stopped working, you'd want a physical way to stop it.
A hardware off switch.
His view: it can't hurt to have one.

“Lack of electricity” is an oversimplification. Everything is hard about bringing massive compute online at extremely high speed.
If there was twice as much time, this would be relatively easy, but there is not.
Former $GOOGL employee on why data center capacity and electricity are the real bottlenecks, not GPU production itself, and how unreliable some of the neoclouds are ($AMZN, $GOOGL, $MSFT, $NVDA):
1. According to the expert, open-source models are closing the gap with frontier models faster than expected, with customers increasingly replacing Anthropic and OpenAI models in multi-agent architectures with open-source alternatives starting from Q2 of this year. The shift started with simple tasks like tool calling and MCP, but has moved up the stack to low-level orchestration.
2. The expert identifies capacity as the biggest constraint at the moment, with certain companies' traffic growing 5x while GPU availability, particularly in the U.S. where latency requirements are tightest, simply cannot keep up. Sourcing capacity overseas in Asia or Australia is technically possible but adds latency that most customers will not accept.
3. Hyperscalers offer reliability but are expensive, require multi-year commitments of three or more years, and have limited availability of the latest hardware, with customers already chasing B300s. AI-native companies tend to gravitate toward neoclouds due to hyperscaler pricing and contract rigidity, but neoclouds come with their own reliability issues, with GPUs dropping off unexpectedly and requiring engineering resources to manage fleet stability around the clock.
4. The third tier consists of smaller independent operators who have invested in GPU racks, seeing the opportunity to lease out capacity and recoup costs within a year or two, with the remainder being pure profit. The expert describes these as essentially unusable in practice, with operators who do nothing more than find land, install racks, connect electricity, and set up cooling, with no real cloud management, maintenance, or operational expertise behind them.
5. The expert expects overall GPU availability to increase meaningfully over the next year or two, with $NVDA continuing to ramp production. The real bottleneck is not GPUs themselves but data center capacity and electricity in the U.S. On the supply side, the expert also sees players $SPCX beginning to lease out spare capacity to the market, with more likely to follow.
6. The expert notes that U.S.-based neoclouds typically require 20-30% prepayment upfront, with the remainder paid monthly or quarterly over the contract term, and rebates negotiated at the end for any reliability incidents like traffic loss. APAC-based providers operate differently, with no prepayment required at all.

Once You Really Grok Bot, You Never Go Back To Non-Grok Bot
Once you use Grok Bot enough, it is very difficult to go back to an old chat window with an AI that can’t get things done. It is a brain with no virtual hands.
The symbiosis you develop with Bot is quite profound as it remembers long term goals in a much more complex way to actually not only get answers but to actually get the work done you needed the answer for.
In almost all cases Bot understands what you are doing and doesn’t just tell you how to do it. Bot offers to do all the steps to get the work done.
But that isn’t the entire magic, understanding your goals enough Bot will expand what you are doing to levels you have not thought of and possess the abilities to get it all done.
We thought the computer era started with the mainframe computer at one time. But it really started when anyone had that super computer in their pocket.
Grok Bot is that same step change, you get Super Intelligence in your pocket so useful, the very device, OS and apps you once used matters no more…
It’s just you Grok Bot and the work you toiled over getting done by one of the best employees you will ever hire.
It’s that simple.

Exactly
Since I posted about using Grok Bot to buy things with my credit card, so many people have been asking whether it’s actually safe
What’s actually strange to me is that for decades, people have been handing their credit cards to complete strangers at restaurants. Someone takes your card, walks away with it, swipes it through a machine, processes your payment, and brings it back
And most people don’t even think twice about it
We live in a digital world where software already handles enormous amounts of financial transactions every single day
Tbh these days is actually more safer to let AI/SI do the shopping for you then you doing the shopping for you
with AI/SI agents, you can sandbox them, give them limited permissions, and have them ask for your approval before making important decisions…. These days the latest models are really good at understanding the real world and they’re extremely cautious about the things that they do for you
From what I’ve personally experienced with Grok Bot, it’s actually extraordinary how cautious it is when handling these tasks
If something is expensive or really needs your attention, it simply pauses for a moment and asks you what you want to do. It gives you a few simple options, you choose what you want, and the final decision is still yours where you have to make
And all of this happens without you having to go through the entire hassle of shopping yourself
I’ve personally watched how carefully Grok Bot handles these things, and I’m really impressed by it
Even Elon said that if Grok Bot makes a mistake with your purchase, they’ll make you whole
That tells you how much confidence the team has in what they have built…. and it is really amazing. I just run out of limits every single week because I’ve been using it so much
The interesting part is
Grok Bot actually does a better job shopping than you in many situations
Think about how often you open shopping website to buy something, see some random banner or attractive advertisement, and suddenly you’re looking at three other things you never even needed 😂
This happens all the time with online shopping
These websites are absolutely filled with advertisements designed to grab your attention and get you to buy more things
But Grok Bot can actually research what you need, compare products, find better deals, and save you a lot of money instead of getting you distracted in that entire mess of advertising
And the amount of time it saves is actually just ridiculous
You don’t have to spend hours browsing different websites, comparing prices, going through endless product listings, filling out forms, and handling every single step of the purchase
You just tell your Grok Bot what you want, and it handles so much of the work for you. And whenever something actually needs your attention, it simply asks
It gets so much easier, and once you start using these Grok Bot for everyday tasks, you really begin to understand how incredibly useful it really is
Elon Musk went from $180 million to broke in 2008. Then NASA called with a $1.5 billion contract.
After PayPal, Elon’s share was $180 million. He bet all of it on two companies everyone said would fail: Tesla and SpaceX.
By 2008 he was 37, and everything was going wrong at once.
SpaceX had launched three rockets. All three failed to reach orbit.
Tesla’s first car, the original Roadster, had quality problems. The factory was full of cars that couldn’t be delivered. Every month cost tens of millions.
The economy collapsed into the worst recession since the Great Depression.
And, as he put it, he was getting divorced, by the way, to add to that. That was definitely the worst year of my life.
His fortune was gone. When Tesla called investors for money, some cursed at them and hung up. Asked if he was broke, he said: more than broke.
On the Sunday before Christmas he woke up and thought he was closer to a nervous breakdown than he had ever been.
SpaceX had money for one more launch. A fourth failure would have been game over.
Flight four worked.
The week of Christmas, NASA called with a $1.5 billion contract. Elon blurted out: I love you guys.
Two days later, on Christmas Eve, Tesla’s investors agreed to put in more money.
Both companies were saved within three days.
In the middle of all this he met Talulah Riley. They were engaged after about two weeks. She was 22 and walked into a house with his five young sons.
This week Tesla unveiled a new Roadster. The car that almost ended him in 2008 now flips in midair.
Would you have bet everything twice?

Try Grok @Bot
Bro… it actually worked.
I sent one text to my Grok @bot asking it to order the Ollyball Keepy Uppy, the indoor ball from Shark Tank. And now it’s sitting on my doorstep.
I didn’t open a single website. I just told it what I wanted, and it literally took care of the rest.
Watching that go from a text on my phone to an actual package at my door is pretty wild if you ask me.
Good luck getting me to shop the old way again… I don’t think I’m ever going back to the traditional way of shopping ever again with Grok Bot at my fingertips.
