Commercial Miscanthus harvest happening now in Eastern Iowa! Really cool to see a conventional livestock operation, solar panels, and next gen biofuel feedstocks all in the same field. Welcome to Iowa!

I talked w/ @NWSDesMoines meteorologist Allan Curtis this morning. Here's what he told me:
- Snow will be widespread noon/early afternoon.
- Expect moderate/heavy snowfall after noon.
- When snow picks up it'll be difficult for crews to keep the roads clear.

Here's my current unofficial summary of Iowa automated station wind gust reports and NWS Local Storm Reports from the 10 August 2020 Derecho. #derecho #iawx mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/on…

Earlier the KDMX radar N of #DesMoines found some of the highest velocity data I have ever seen in a #Derecho.
These values were higher than any velocity data seen w/ #Isaias last week. A very damaging & dangerous wind storm moving through Iowa.

Here's the radar estimated rainfall from today. A small sliver of rain fell within the D3 drought area, but certainly not enough to help the conditions. #iawx
