“There will be no art, no literature, no science… There will be no distinction between beauty and ugliness. There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed.” Orwell, 1984

you can see why Ange might not be keen on an investigation into the £55 MILLION in taxpayer funded housing loans, approved by Andy’s Greater Manchester authority, for companies linked to Manchester City’s billionaire owner. 453 homes were built but er … not ONE affordable home. Awkward 🤡

Look what happens when you have no idea who you are letting into your country in huge numbers. Illegal mass immigration in to Europe has got to stop. Governments 1st responsibility is to the safety of its people. That has not happened for a long time. Liberal Suicidal empathy is self destruction

Governments fiddle while Rome burns. Western Europe is facing two simultaneous crises: a cost-of-living crisis and large-scale illegal migration. The combination is a tinderbox. How long can political leaders keep looking the other way? But they do this because they enabled it.

Loudly for those having tantrums about the NHS *finally* obeying the law, some 16 years on, and providing women with necessary, separate, single sex spaces. This is partly why. I dare you to tell us you don't agree it should. I first raised this report by @JoPhoenix1 for @WomensRightsNet in spring 2023 at PMQs. Since then we've had 5 Health Secretaries, a Supreme Court clarification of The Equality Act 2010, and simple EHRC guidance. The NHS delay should shame every senior MP who failed to ensure UK law was acted on. womensrights.network/nhs-dat…

France is a huge huge warning…. It’s criminal negligence at best, quite possibly treasonable by this government if they choose NOT to recognise this, & take the relevant precautions.

Tony Benn’s 5 political questions: “What power have you got? Where did you get it from? In whose interests do you exercise it? To whom are you accountable? How do we get rid of you? And if you can’t get rid of the people who govern you, you don’t live in a democratic system.”

Every day less of an isolated incident! 😔
4 men arrested after a woman was gang raped in a car park in Swindon. The suspects are reportedly three migrant Muslims aged 21, 20 and one aged 19. Police have declared it an “isolated incident” 🤷‍♂️

These protestors in no way represent a great many of us at City St George's, staff and students, who are as appalled as anyone else by attempts to intimidate Jewish and Israeli lecturers and visitors. And it is by no means clear these are all or mostly actual students at the institution.
Student pro-Pals at City University in London just disrupted a talk by lawyers who represented the British connected hostages. I can’t believe how grotesque this is. They rant about the “Zionist hostages” and screech for the release of Palestinian terrorists. Terrifying.

Am at a lecture by KC @AdamWagner1 at @CityStGeorges uni on how he & his legal team represented Israeli hostages in Gaza. An academic lecture about the law & diplomacy involved. But chanting ‘Free Palestine’ idiots could not resist disrupting it.

On the fifth anniversary of the murder of my good friend Sir David Amess, killed doing his job as an MP, I'm thinking of his family. David was unfailingly kind & treated everyone equally. In our democracy, everyone should be able to go about their work without fear of violence.

Councils don't get to decide whether or not they comply with the law. If people are in this country illegally, they are criminals, and they have to be removed. It's as simple as that.
🚨 NEW: At least seven London councils have said they will not collaborate with immigration enforcement. • Newham last week became the first Labour-led local authority to adopt the stance, after Lewisham, Lambeth, Hackney, Waltham Forest, Southwark and Haringey did so over the summer. • Councillors in the east London borough unanimously backed a motion that the town hall should only co-operate with immigration raids “where there is a clear legal obligation to do so” and should not actively assist through council staff, buildings or equipment. • The decision means they will limit, or in some cases block, data sharing with the Home Office for immigration enforcement and work with local activist groups to create a “sanctuary corridor” for migrants.

Britain is visibly decaying. Everything costs a fortune. Everything is decaying. Everyone is saying it. Living in Britain should be like hitting the jackpot. But successive governments have pissed our assets away. Often deliberately. Britain faces huge difficulties and we don’t have the calibre of politicians to deal with the issues being faced. We have the most useless, insincere and out of touch politicians ever seen in British history. It’s a dreadful situation. We are being led by a bunch of shysters with their nests being feathered by their corporate cronies. We are an island full of natural resources & with a temperate climate. We should have energy security, vibrant agriculture and fishing industries, blue collar industries to be proud of, manufacturing centres of excellence, but instead, it's all being destroyed, sold off or closed down. The industrial and community fabric of so many communities has been wilfully destroyed or neglected for decades. We have infrastructures and public services that are rotting despite having the highest tax burden in history. We have an ongoing cost of living crisis where supermarkets & utility & energy companies fleece consumers on a daily basis while showing record profits. And for all of this, I blame governments for being more concerned in political game playing, consolidation of power, suppressing freedom of speech, indulging in petty punishment rules and surveillance culture, facilitating corporate greed rather than addressing the many concerns and challenges faced by individuals and communities right across the country. Britain has turned into a total mess. Nothing works. Everything is bogged down in governmental petty bureaucracy or punishment politics. Pensioners, small businesses, students, farmers, fishing communities and the disabled are wilfully hammered by the Labour government. Over £100bn of taxpayers’ money is now spent per year on interest payments for the national debt, £30bn is being spaffed away on carbon capture machines, The cost of living for basic essentials like water, energy and food is through the roof. We are taxed to the hilt and yet public services and core infrastructures are rotting. We have water, energy and food security concerns despite having the national resources to be secure in all of these. We have successive governments literally asset stripping the country to give everything away to multinational corporations. We have massive amounts of poverty and homelessness. We have thousands of migrants arriving across the channel while £millions are spent every day on housing them in 5 star hotels. We have an NHS that is in a total mess with millions of people living in excruciating pain because they can’t get treated for months on end. We have governments who are more concerned with sucking up to the likes of BlackRock rather than fixing the mess that they created. And we even have a government who ram through plastering solar panels on thousands of acres of prime farmland while spending £50bn on sun dimming experiments. It’s an utter disgrace what has happened to Britain and for all of this, I blame successive governments. Also, community spirit has declined. Membership and attendance of the institutions that once bound communities - pubs, clubs, youth centres - has been in long decline. This is not nostalgia for a mythical past. It is the measurable result of decades of under-investment in maintenance. Deferred government maintenance is a false economy: costs compound, service reliability falls and the daily experience of the British public becomes a scenery of quiet degradation and a country that increasingly looks and feels as though it has stopped trying to maintain standards. It’s horrendous.

Communism requires a government to abolish private property, dictate prices, and punish unauthorised trade. Without that coercion it cannot exist and with it the pattern is shortages, stagnation and loss of freedoms as governments hoover up all the assets and public wealth. Socialism produces the same failures by concentrating ownership and investment in political hands: planners lack the knowledge and incentives to allocate resources efficiently. Corporatism is not a counterexample. It is a horrendous collusion in which large firms and governments jointly set rules, subsidies and barriers. The public pays for the losses while the government privatises the gains. It is government facilitated corporation privilege, not capitalism. Capitalism - supporting small businesses, private property, voluntary exchange and open competition under ethical business law - delivers the broadest rise in living standards precisely because it uses decentralised knowledge and aligns incentives and growth with results. It creates stronger growth and better infrastructures. Systems that concentrate economic power in the state always fail. Systems that let firms buy the state generate costs at public expense. Systems that protect open competition and private rights produce the most equitable and free societies.

The fact that we have mosques endorsing election candidates is a sign that something has gone very badly wrong in our country. Not only is this *illegal* under charities law, it's also completely poisonous for our democracy. We have to stamp out this dangerous nonsense.
The by-election campaign co-ordinator for Hannah Spencer claimed mosques were so disappointed with Labour they were willing to ‘break ranks’, despite charities having to be politically impartial thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…
