Parents and caregivers should teach children frequent and proper handwashing. Children should be taught to wash their hands when they are dirty, before eating, after using the bathroom, after coughing or blowing their nose, after touching animals, and after playing outside.
Older adults and people who have underlying health conditions are higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Avoid exposure by staying home if possible; washing hands; having extra supplies on hand; cleaning surfaces; and making a plan for what to do if you get sick.
