$40,000 bond over a tweet. You read that right. This is the United States under Trump and Florida under Ron DeSantis. @iElijahManley should not be sitting in jail right now.

Why is this an achievement? Why is this legal? Why are we allowing individuals to create something that will be deployed to deceive and manipulate vulnerable people? The culture of Silicon Valley is fundamentally anti-human. Anti-life. It's disgusting.
The whole point of building Tavus has been simple: talking to a machine should feel as natural as talking to a friend or coworker. It’s hard to describe all the tiny nuances that make a conversation feel human. The little expressions. Moving around in your chair. Knowing when to speak and when to listen. The dance of it all. Griffin is by far the closest anyone has come to a model that can capture those nuances. The first time I saw it being used, I had no idea I was watching our model rather than just a normal video call. I’m so incredibly proud of this team and what they’ve built.

Should be illegal.
Introducing Griffin, the first model to pass the video Turing test. 48% of people who talked to it live thought it was a real human. Previous systems have had a pass rate <3%. It is #1 on NVIDIA's benchmark for full-duplex AI video. It’s the first Human Interaction Model (HIM).
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The 48% figure and "video Turing test" claim are from Tavus's own study of 54 one-minute calls, not independently verified or using a standard protocol. Griffin-Lite leads NVIDIA's VideoFDB benchmark on their public leaderboard. cellcog.ai/blog/tavus-gri… research.nvidia.com/labs/amri/proj… tech-ish.com/2026/10/02/tav…

We live in a truly barbaric country. This should nauseate every American and move you to demand an end to the death penalty and accountability for those who’ve fought to keep this medieval institution in place for so long.
Unbelieveable. Officials were unable to carry out the execution of Christa Gail Pike, witnesses said, after the lethal injection was administered. Pike appeared to receive 2 doses of pentobarbital, and she was still awake 40 minutes after. Pike is now en route to the hosptial.

We live in a country where some people can DoorDash food from the other side of the country while their neighbors struggle to feed their kids.
We’re cleared for takeoff! 🛫Say hello to DoorDash Air, our in-house drone delivery program.

This is stupid and regressive.
Fewer taxes. Bigger paychecks. We're ending state income taxes on up to $25,000 in tipped income.  That’s $67 million back in the pockets of New Yorkers like Lucas and the team at Vinateria this year alone.

This is not just an Apple problem. It’s an FCC problem. 2028 candidates need to campaign with plans to overhaul the agency and make it work for consumers so AI-generated spam doesn’t hit our screens every five minutes.
Whatever @Apple is doing, it’s not enough.

The “law-abiding citizens” language sounds good at first glance but a surveillance state can’t simply turn itself on only when people commit crimes. No one should be subjected to mass, Flock-style surveillance mechanisms.
I’ll soon be sponsoring a bill to withhold federal money from municipalities and police departments that deploy Flock (and other style) cameras to surveil law abiding citizens.

Shameful of the Epstein-loving Speaker @MikeJohnson to stand in the way of protecting women from deepfake porn over something so petty
Will Steakin says the bipartisan Defiance Act, aimed at combating AI-generated nonconsensual intimate images, has stalled in the House despite unanimous Senate passage because, according to Politico's sources, Republican leadership doesn't want to hand AOC a win.

a limited-edition commemorative Social Security card
EXCLUSIVE: Babies born during America’s 250th birthday celebration will receive a special piece of history. The Social Security Administration is launching a limited-edition commemorative Social Security card featuring the Freedom 250 logo for children born in the U.S. between July 2 and Dec. 31, 2026. According to an announcement exclusively shared with FOX Business, the card functions just like a standard Social Security card, but will serve as a unique keepsake marking the nation’s 250th anniversary. @foxnewspolitics @JasmineBaehr

Debbie Wasserman Schultz is asking FL-20 to value her seniority more than our own representation. I reject that. Her years in Congress do not outweigh this district’s decades of Black leadership. Her title does not outweigh our community’s voice. Her political survival does not outweigh the needs of families trying to afford rent, medicine, childcare, and groceries. FL- 20 deserves someone fighting for this district because it is home, not because it is available

NEW: The morning after the socialists swept, the establishment had its excuse ready: Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier only won because of gentrification. It was a convenient narrative. It is also false. And we can prove it: open.substack.com/pub/michae…

This technology, if allowed to be developed and exist, will be used to police thought crimes in the future. There’s no way around it.

We’re sharing the next major milestone in our non-invasive brain-to-text decoder research: Brain2Qwerty v2. Building on v1, which was published today in @Nature, Brain2Qwerty v2 is the highest-performing end-to-end pipeline capable of real-time sentence decoding from raw brain signals. It advances beyond character-level performance to decoding words and semantics, enabling accuracy for overall communication. We believe this research has the potential to make a real difference for the millions of people who suffer from brain lesions or disorders that prevent them from communicating. 🧵👇

This shit is more damaging than the Panama Papers honestly. If Wes Moore or Cory Booker run for president, they will have to answer a lot of questions.
