A year ago I burnt out hard after spending three years building a browser by myself. I needed to learn to relax again, and to do things just because I enjoy them
So I got back into gaming, but playing FF7 Remake I had such a bad experience I had to force myself to finish it, and I started thinking maybe I'm just not a gamer anymore... until I re-played my childhood game Golden Sun and loved every minute of it. So it wasn't me 🙃
I wanted to see how it worked, and nobody had finished decompiling it. So in July I figured I'd let AI have a go, as a little one-week hobby. Three months and hundreds of AI agents later, the first game is done: all six languages rebuild byte for byte from readable source, with the original game checking every single byte
It's been exhausting at times, but honestly it was a really good experience 😁
