In aneurysms < 3 mm Pcom, Acom location and stent assisted coiling predicted intra-operative complications! Overall outcomes were comparable to aneurysms sized 3-5mm, keeping in mind that there should be a valid reason to justify treating a 3 mm aneurysm! From the STAR registry @musc_star and by our superstar @VictorGabriel_H from @TJUHNeurosurg @TJUHospital
Baseline BMI was associated with increased reintervention rate post VSS, for each unit increase in baseline BMI the odds of reintervention at 6 months increased by 1.09 fold.
There was no association with delta BMI and reintervention.

I am thrilled to spotlight @VictorGabriel_H Victor Gabriel El-Hajj, our stellar Postdoctoral Research Fellow @TJUHNeurosurg as he gears up for this season’s neurosurgery match! He graduated from the prestigious Karolinska Institutet, scored off the chart on his boards and published 100s of papers, but above all he’s a wonderful human being a team player and a pleasure to work with! Jefferson Neurosurgery was the only site in Pennsylvania to implant e-shunts in the stride trial! The new innovative device for the less invasive treatment of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. Neurosurgeons from different parts of the world deal differently with complications:
- Our European colleagues were more likely to question their clinical abilities and less likely to admit fault to the patient every time
- US neurosurgeons were more frequently implicated in litigation and were more likely to utilize faith, mindfulness, and therapy
- The principle of forgive and remember provides a constructive framework facilitating moving forward, while remembering and learning from complications.
