Great exchange at #GPF2026 with @NigelClarkeJa and Sven Clement on parliamentarians and international cooperation & the role of AI in driving inclusive growth. On AI, I'm hopeful: with the right policies, some economies could achieve in decades what once took centuries.
What role can parliamentarians play in strengthening international cooperation? At #GPF2026, MPs are joined by @NigelClarkeJa of @IMFNews and @Paschald of @WorldBank for a town hall on the future of multilateralism and the challenges facing the global economy.

Day 2 of the 2026 Global Parliamentary Forum, in Bangkok, Thailand 🇹🇭 I am pleased to be attending Day 2 of the 2026 Global Parliamentary Forum, hosted with the support of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Bangkok, Thailand. Today's discussions focused on Financing Small Businesses, Smarter Credit, Taxation and Partnerships for Growth, critical pillars for building resilient economies, empowering entrepreneurs and promoting inclusive economic development. Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of job creation, innovation and inclusive growth. Yet, many continue to face systemic barriers, including high borrowing costs, limited credit histories and complex tax systems that constrain their ability to grow and create sustainable employment. The closed-door plenary brought together parliamentarians from across the globe, the IMF and regional financial leaders to explore the vital intersection of macroeconomic and fiscal policy, domestic revenue mobilisation, access to finance and private-sector development. As policymakers, it is essential that we advance practical reforms that expand access to affordable credit, simplify taxation, strengthen public-private partnerships and create an enabling environment where small businesses can thrive. Empowering MSMEs is not just an economic priority, it is an investment in jobs, innovation, opportunity and shared prosperity. The conversations in Bangkok reaffirm the importance of collaboration, sound policy and innovative financing solutions in unlocking the full potential of small businesses for sustainable and inclusive growth. @WorldBankGroup @IMFNews #GlobalParliamentaryForum2026 #WorldBankGroup #IMF #MSMEs #SmallBusinessFinancing #EconomicGrowth #TaxReform #FinancialInclusion #PublicPrivatePartnerships #InclusiveGrowth

Today, I was truly honoured to moderate the IMF and World Bank Group 101 Breakfast meeting, alongside Hon. Federica Onori, MP, Italy, during the 2026 Global Parliamentary Forum held in Bangkok, Thailand, with Young Parliamentarians. In my capacity as a Board Member of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and IMF, it was a privilege to facilitate this important engagement, which provided an opportunity for young parliamentarians to deepen their understanding of the work, mandate and role of the two Bretton Woods institutions in advancing global development. We were privileged to hear from two distinguished speakers; Jakob Kopperud, Director of Government and Philanthropy Relations at the World Bank Group and Tristan Hugh Walker, Deputy Chief of the Communications Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The session was an important opportunity to strengthen dialogue, enhance knowledge and encourage meaningful engagement between parliamentarians and these critical global financial institutions. As young parliamentarians, understanding the work of the World Bank Group and the IMF is essential to informed policymaking, effective oversight and advancing sustainable and inclusive development in our respective countries. @WorldBankGroup @IMFNews #GlobalParliamentaryForum2026 #WorldBank #IMF #YoungParliamentarians #GlobalDevelopment #ParliamentaryDiplomacy

#ParlementCEDEAO #ECOWASParliament #AM2026 #GPF2026 #BanqueMondiale #FMI #AfriqueDeLOuest #Emploi #IA #Intégration
