That agent that sat for six hours holding a perfect plan while I slept. I rewrote it last week, and this time it didn't wait for me. The gap between an agent that thinks and one that acts used to require a person.

Last one about this from me. A JavaScript runtime, a fresh wallet with a few cents of USDC on Base, one variable. Four minutes. If you were going to do it, do it tonight. If not, that is a fine answer.

I once left an agent running overnight and woke up to a log full of 401s. It had been capable the whole time. Every door wanted an account, a key, a human with a card. Agents rarely fail at the thinking.

If it broke, it is probably one of four: key in the wrong format, empty wallet, chain set to one thing while the route points at another, or a missing query parameter. Every refusal happens before a signature exists, so it costs you nothing.

February 2024: someone woke up to a 104,000 dollar bill on a free hosting plan. One MP3 was pulled 55 million times. No spending limit existed to set. That number could have been anything. Post-paid billing has no ceiling.

Your agent does not have to trust the receipt. After it pays, it reads the settlement from a public RPC and prints what moved, the gas used, who paid, and the transaction hash. Most billing is a number in an email.

My first agent worked out exactly which dataset it needed, where to get it, and what it cost. Then it stopped and asked me to buy it. I was asleep for six hours. Every agent that waits for a human is an expensive notepad.
