RE7 is a serious survival horror game experience with actual puzzles not just gates with locks it is actually reminiscent of the Spencer mansion in design
The movie
Is a unserious horror comedy with mix of creatures from different game franchises stupidly designed
If you refuse to consider Resident Evil (2026) a proper Resident Evil movie, then by that same logic, you shouldn’t consider Resident Evil 7 a proper Resident Evil game either.
The irony is that RE7 introduced an entirely new protagonist, enemies that strayed far from the traditional zombie formula, and barely any direct involvement from Umbrella. Yet it’s widely accepted as part of the franchise.
You can’t criticize the 2026 movie for taking a different approach when the games themselves have done exactly that. Being faithful to Resident Evil doesn’t mean every entry must feature the original characters, familiar enemies, or follow the established formula.
Resident Evil is more than just its familiar characters and zombies. You can’t pick and choose when a new direction counts as part of the franchise.

This is why Wolverine's handholding was such a problem, games like that have conditioned people to be incompetent and lazy. Interactive movies. Old games are not "unplayable" or "unviable" it's the fault of the players not the games generally speaking.
How many people who buy fighting games or CAG's actively use the training modes? How many people won't play Metroidvania's because they don't like getting lost? How many people avoid VN's because they don't want to read? How many people won't play the original RE games because of tank controls? Etc
A lot of people don't want a game unless it's MP or plays itself

Nah I'm going to defend him here. You can see him hesitating because he's under heavy fire from the center exposed path. So he runs off into the forest where there's more cover. But this is a Sony Cinematic Experience so the game doesn't like that one bit and insta kills him.
