I like this @billbarnwell trade idea, not just for boosting the secondary this year, but because Woolen is two years younger than Mike Jackson so the Panthers could let Jackson walk and have a ready replacement without hurting their chances for a comp pick espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/5023…

NFC Week 7 Playoff Leverage
-- Packers @ Lions is the NFC Game of the Week (TM)
-- Huge opportunities this week for the Cowboys/Panthers
Phillips’ checkered injury history is why a player of his caliber was available in free agency. He’s shown this year why he was worth the risk, but signing him was absolutely a risk.
Vita Vea is mentioned as a sleeper trade candidate. There’s a non-zero chance that a Panthers win on Sunday against Tampa triggers a Vea trade if they fall to 1-6 (plus a Bowles firing, etc). Could be a kitchen sink type game for the Bucs.
Week 7 buzz:
-Darnold, Hurts, Nix, Stroud futures
-On deck for Colts
-Eagles shake-up coming?
-Trade sleepers
-Hurts fallout
-Clock management issues
-McCarthy, injuries

The Panthers' max pressure looks had the Eagles' protection schemes in a bind.
Boss (Load) Front with a double mug opposite to force a slide to the Ni and trigger the RB to step up to take one of the LBs.
The goal is to "hide" the Ni and send him through the natural gap in the A-gap created by the Nose stunting to the Center's face.
Carolina gets exactly what they want by manipulating the protection check, and Moehrig comes clean for the sack.
Textbook manipulation.
The Panthers had 8 unblocked pressures in their game with Philly.

Good find here. The high number of throwaways prob is the reason. Bryce leads the league in TA even with 1 less game. Finding completions was a point of emphasis we heard in preseason but seems he’s just taking the L on plays to avoid getting behind the sticks.

Just an incredible story. Must-read for any NFL fan. Too many great anecdotes to mention them all, but obviously loved this one about former Panthers head coach Ron Rivera sneaking out for a hot dog when he was in Philly

Good look for the Panthers’ run game
Percentage of runs hit at or behind the line of scrimmage through Week 6:

7) Eagles: 51.4%
8) Buccaneers: 50.8%
9) Cardinals: 50.7%
9) Jets: 50.7%
11) Packers: 50.0%

29) Bills: 40.4%
30) 49ers: 37.0%
31) Rams: 36.3%
32) Bengals: 35.0%
For clarification, ranking 1st in this is bad.
The Panthers are 6th in EPA/dropback, but just 16th in passing success rate, which should cause some concern that a bit of regression is coming
Great discussion on the Panthers on today’s @TA_FootballShow. Gets into reasons for real optimism for the defense and just a smidge of cold water for the offense podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…
Scary situation for Hurts, hope he’s okay. The Eagles under Howie Roseman have historically timed their down years well. With an extra 1st and extra 2nd in the 2028 draft, the time is right for Philly to tank
This has always been part of Bryce’s game, but it feels anecdotally like he’s tapping into it more this season and the results are fantastic so far

Panthers Linebacker Bobby Okereke had 3 tackles for a loss against the Eagles in Week 6
That is tied for the most TFLs in a game from an off-ball linebacker this season, per @SumerSports
