I know everyone hates $abx now, but just keep in mind with the securitization done, they can offload the $300M something in policies held on the balance balance to the SPV, and then unlock all that cash…. Either go debt free or cut a lot of debt and buyback stock
And if I can dream here, they just use the spv mostly to buy securities, and then abx takes an origination fee (like literally every other private asset manager). Then it becomes higher quality recurring and the funds/spv are the direct buyers, and oh by the way fund returns have been consistently good for 2+ decades now ya dings, which means they’re not “over charging their own funds to make their gains” or whatever other dumb argument is being made.
And also then the valuation methodology doesn’t matter. Just take a fee - can’t argue that.
I said a year ago about this time data center growth would result in lower energy prices. Was roundly mocked for that. Amazing how little people know about data centers - even now
Texas AI Buildout
Electricity Bottleneck is so extreme that forward prices DECLINED yoy.

Here’s a question.
What if AI delivers massive productivity and new innovation, and the main companies get paid for it?
What if AI can replace or scope down large swaths of software applications across all companies, help advance new drugs and turbocharge cad design to manufacturing?
AI has moved far beyond chat bots. Literally had a developer replace a several million a year module on a major software system. Did it over the weekend for fun. Wasn’t even T&M
Absolutely love, love all the energy nerds trying to explain why Trumps plan “to refill the SPR with Venezuelan oil won’t work”
Amazing people still try to make technical arguments against Trump like he actually cares
Remember when Bloomberg wrote an article showing power prices going up and held it against data center growth with an r squared of like .67, completely ignoring any reality and inferring a relationship that wasn’t there, when the actual driver of higher prices has been expensive renewables? Fun times.
A rate cut enabled by data centers. You don’t say!
“The plan would reduce bills by $79 million a year, saving the average residential customer about $100 a year. It also calls for freezing rates for three years. I&M says the plan is made possible by increased revenue paid by large customers including data centers.”

Yep
This grassroots effort to stop data center development is actually heartbreaking. They’re going into poor communities, where DC developers are putting up large payments to schools, infrastructure and bring a big tax base to fund their institutions, and yet these protesters are scaring people into voting against development. They don’t care about the future of the town, or whether the locals actually get something nice.
Wild that’s it’s working so well. Amazing how much people want to believe conspiracy theories, to the point of legit harming themselves and their town.
And many in this market are pretty sure this effort is being funded by China. It’s too organized. Who knows, but what a low cost way to slow the US in this race
How do I tell the X algo to stop serving me stories about parents killing their f-int kids??? Hard pass on that sick shit

Amazing.
A parish in Louisiana tied teacher bonuses to local sales taxes, so when Meta built a data center in the area, the teacher bonuses skyrocketed so much that they more than doubled their paychecks:
Question - what’s the primary explosive of choice for drones in Ukraine? Claude says 40mm grenades
What us company manufactures 40mm grenades and has tripled its backlog the last couple of years? And has a mid 70 year old founder / ceo that owns like half the company?
What would be a good investment for ammo replenishment and a great investment for rising drone warfare….?

I’ve been a huge bull for awhile now. Starting to get a lot more concerned, ngl.
I do think AI has another big run, and maybe even corporates broadly as well start seeing real AI efficiency, but all this fiscal stimulus is gunning to prop things up for the midterms and after that it becomes a headwind and a growing one at that
Market needs the long bond to rally massively. So does the government
To expand - I also think data center growth is facing real risks, specially around these moronic moratoriums. There’s a lot of grassroots / inorganic pushback, but it’s effective and it is delaying / killing some projects. Given how reliant gdp growth is on data center expansion, that’s a real issue
I’m also worried that post midterms, the government will need to get serious about bringing 30 year rates down. I don’t think it’ll happen in a bullish way
Annnnddd $lesl is gone
Brutal - so many red flags but I went for it anyways. Serves me right
Mom - they’re freaking out about AI credit again. Ya, this time it’s the leases. Just buy - it’s all good
Guys - we have de facto QE back with treasury support. Does no one remember how this goes?
It’s yeehaw time - have fun!
Is there… a chance $lesl isn’t going under? 🤔🤔
Report Wednesday after the bell. Having a call. There was a lot of activity in the debt, imagine if their quarter isn’t awful and they bought a good chunk of debt at 15-20 cents on this news.
I can dream…
