Purbiyas served as Mughal and Afghan levies in eighteenth-century Punjab as well. Rattan Singh Bhangu mentions two Purbiyas, Daya Ram and Mansa Ram, killed in the Mughal action against Sikh warriors under Tara Singh of Wan in 1726. Read more: xitter.cf/kharagket_/status/2032… In April 1765, according to Butte Shah, the advancing Bhangi Misl took Lahore from Abdali’s Hindu general Kabuli Mal by bribing one “Bhaia Nand Ram Purbia”, who served the Durranis as thanedar of the fort.
This is a colonial narrative and justification. Hindustani (Purbiya) soldiers also fought in great numbers on the Sikh side. By 1838, there were some 6,100 Purbiya Muslims in the elite Najib paltans. Colonel (later Brigadier General) Sheikh Basawan, who was second in command of Fauj-i Khas after General Ventura was also a Purbiya. And we aren't accounting for Purbiya Hindus. In 1808, there were some 1,200 of them in 4 Telina battalions, and more would be added in future. These Hindustanis (Purbiyas), with their superior gunpowder warfare, are what helped Ranjit Singh break the checkmate between the Sikh Misls, Afghans, Pahari Rajputs and Punjabi and Kashmiri Muslim warlords, and establish his supremacy over them. They helped Ranjit Singh build the greatest Sikh kingdom. Even in the case of artillery, the pay rolls of the early years of Ranjeet Singh's reign reveal that the bulk of the personnel of artillery consisted of mostly the Poorbias. Once the crucial years of establishment had passed, other groups, such as Punjabis, Pashtuns and Dogras, were gradually added to the ranks.

Bhagat S. Sandhu’s own writings show him a blatant atheist, and he lambasts Hinduism at length, mocking the Vedas, the Puranas, the Gayatri Mantra and your demigods, even though he came from the Arya Samaj, the most “woke” of all Hindu sects. Of Sikhism he says nothing except that he “could never believe in the mythology and doctrines of Sikhism or any other religion.” To claim him as part of your cult shows how small your self-respect is.
