CW // Xavier: Program Fallacy spoilers & long review So basically, a corporate android in the Metropolis who's about to retire accidentally bumps into an alien android carrying planet-destroying instructions. To save her planet, this tiny overworked worker takes on the heavy duty of babysitting an alien weapon of mass destruction! The plot sounds like they're just messing around for laughs, but istg it lowkey tricked me into crying at the end😭 Cyberpunk / android themes usually force these giant, grand narratives down your throat, but "Program Fallacy" takes the exact opposite route. It uses daily trivialities to break down this dazzling yet freezing-cold world. Androids aren't even that different from humans: just grinding a bottom-tier life, acting as disposable machines in the cyber world. You only get a body replacement if you get hurt on the job. Yet, our MC is still trying her hardest, just counting down the days to her retirement🥺 Can an android actually feel a sense of belonging? Can they love this world? Who knows, but an Android MC would definitely be drawn to Xavier in any world, totally unable to stop herself from pulling closer. And Xavier? Oh, he's living "very Xavier" no matter where he is. Even as an android, he's still clocking in and out, working 3 days with 4 days off, sipping cherry-flavored stabilizers, rocking that Prince attitude, and casually dropping unhinged threats😭 While MC is literally trying her best to stop him, Xavier suddenly has this realization about "divergence": "So liking someone is a kind of divergence?" He thinks on it. For an android, a glitch is usually bad news. But what if that glitch is “You”? Seeing MC love this world, seeing her care about the little flowers... Xavier makes up his mind. He just drops: "The world isn't ending." "I'm picky, reckless, unreasonable, remember? You don't have to understand me. I just wanted to let you know. Didn't matter if you asked or not." Not for the world, not for the little rabbit, just because of you. Ugh my heart🫠 The Happy Ending feels like this tiny, cozy fairy tale tucked inside a harsh cyber world🥹 Two washed-up androids just sitting on some random planet and watching 44 sunsets together. Meanwhile, the Bad Ending hits you with that real cyberpunk reality; cold, cruel, turning to dust in a second. But it still has this weird, unique romance where, even without knowing or feeling, they walk side by side to the literal end of the world🖤 I usually hate angsty plots, but this card managed to pack dark narratives, psychological horror, morally messy situations, and a mix of sweet & bittersweet romance, all while keeping that hilarious comedic timing. Plus, all the callbacks and those little numbers that just make you smile🥹 Overall, I'm obsessed. The execution is so good, and now I totally get why they did that Blade Runner 2049 collab. Also Xavier’s card this time really fits the "Love" and "Deepspace" so well🤭✨
