Literary fiction will often have you scratching your head and asking, “What point were they making here?”, because real life is hypocritical and contradictory and insane and impossible to distill to a single idea. You asking that question is, ironically, the whole point.

Conversation of affirmation with my barber today: “Your hair is very thick but very soft.” “Thank you.” “You have very good hair.” “Yes.” “Yes.”

I read an entire book on my phone yesterday and now I’m blind.

They had to rebuild a school in Perth 500m away on a new site because it was infested with tiger snakes and they’re a protected species so they couldn’t be exterminated. I’ve found 2 dugite skins in my garden so far this year. 🐍
I love Australians so much. Nicest people ever. But tragically, there are spiders and snakes there. So I am doomed to roam the planet Australianless

I’m as anti-royal as they come but you’ve gotta admit the cuff adjustment is pretty fucking suave 😂
The Gentleman's Guide to Handling an Assassination Attempt: 🇺🇸 Don't belly-crawl across the floor. 🇬🇧 Do adjust your cuffs and carry on.

I probably would have enjoyed Jesse James if I could understand a single thing that comes out of Casey Affleck’s mouth.
2007 was God-tier for movies: - Michael Clayton - No Country for Old Men - There Will be Blood - Zodiac - The Assassination of Jesse James

Starting the reading year strong. No one has Priest’s uncanny knack for making reality feel uncoupled. Like his other classic, The Separation, this one leaves you baffled, lonely, upset, and wondering who the hell you really are or what’s really going on.

Second read of 2026. Made me stressed about my kids, and I don’t even have kids. Cool, subtle use of structure to replicate that delirium, for sure. Ending creeped me out, even though I’m not totally sure it was meant to. Will read more of her books!

We live in a world where our sons worship people like Andrew Taint. RJ reminded us what it felt like to worship people like Luke Skywalker, and gave us a story about the importance of stepping up to the plate when we’re needed the most. This final shot = lump in the throat
Josh O’Connor calls THE LAST JEDI “so beautiful.” “The end of that movie - how anyone could be a Jedi... I just remember seeing that movie in the cinemas and I wept of that last image with the boy. It’s just one of the most iconic images in cinema” (Source: @letterboxd)

This. This is also why good writing is hard.
I saw the new Knifes Out movie and while it's entertaining, my biggest gripe with "whodunnit" movies is when the final reveal happens, there are always several elements to it that the audience would have no way of knowing beforehand. A twist only works if it was in front of people's faces the whole time without them knowing.

I have a hyper-political pitch for a secret/surprise Gremlins 3 script. Hit me up, Hollywood #screenwriting #bringgremlinsback

Return to Harper's York for another Buffy x Charmed-esque adventure. The monster of the week is a morally grey dreamwalker set on restoring magic to England. The price? Obliterating York. Harper & Fionn must choose between love, family, & the city. #IndiePit #A #SARC #F

Queer Holly Black meets William Gibson with British folklore AI has replaced human creativity and magic was banished long ago. A depressed human bard and an elven hacker are up against a scheming Faery Queen. Their weapons? A song and a cup of tea. #IndiePit #A #SARC #F #SF

Friends, I’m deleting this app from my phone tomorrow. Im still *here*, technically. In case my platform ever blows up (lol). But let’s be honest, it’s a cesspit and it’s just too easy to hate-swim in it. Reach out if you want to stay in touch ✌️

Weirdly both sides of this are right. Schools recognise the need for male teachers and they’re desperate for them - you’ll get the job just for being a man - but men don’t go for it (generally speaking). I’m in an English office of 11, and I’m one of only 2 men.
Men should stop whining then and become teachers, but none of you are going to do that because you don’t like taking care of children!

I love London and appreciate the sentiment of this but litter free? Look closer at that polka dot pattern on the footpath 😂. Seriously though, London rocks and Londoners are the best 👊
I’m in London this weekend. Contrary to X posts, the streets are litter-free, the Tube trains graffiti-free, it looks fabulous in the sunshine and everyone is enjoying themselves peacefully. I’m still alive and haven’t been robbed.

I had the date wrong in my head. I thought it was 1 year today, but it was actually 1 year yesterday. Shh. Anyway! If you like fae, queer & mental health rep, tech and magic, and some sizzling tension underneath it all, please check out this brand new, standalone coming in 2026.

I lived in London for 5 years and the one time I ever felt unsafe was when a white British dude tried picking a fight with me on the overground. Just while we’re throwing around racially loaded stories about my beloved bitch-Goddess of a city x
