آج افغانستان کے ہزارہ نسل کشی کا دن منا رہے ہیں 1890 کی دہائی میں عبدالرحمٰن خان کے دور میں نسل اور عقیدے کی وجہ سے ہزارہ آبادی کے 60 فیصد سے زیادہ افراد کا قتلِ عام کیا گیا۔ اس کے علاوہ، دسیوں ہزار ہزارہ مردوں، عورتوں اور بچوں کو غلام بنا کر فروخت کیا گیا، جبکہ بڑی تعداد میں ہزارہ خاندانوں کو ان کے آبائی علاقوں سے جبراً بے دخل کیا گیا اور ان کی وسیع زمینیں اور جائیدادیں ضبط کر لی گئیں۔ ہزاروں خاندان جان بچانے کے لیے ہجرت کرنے پر مجبور ہوئے۔
