It’s amazing to me that the same people who call for the incarceration of those who disrupt traffic in protest are now saying we need to listen to the concerns of people who torch a police station to the ground. You’re not serious people, your analytical skills are sorely lacking

You do not “protest” against a murder by an individual - you hold a vigil, mourn; show collective sympathy. There is nothing to “protest” about; there is only sorrow, incomprehension - the desire to do whatever might help those who lost their beloved.

Worth noting that @RobertJenrick was a member of the government which defunded every part of the criminal justice system, including prisons, and ignored years of warnings that the prisons were close to overflowing.
Any criminals “let off” have been let off by his government.
The British people did not vote to let criminals off scott-free.
Far from being “unburdened by doctrine”, Starmer is unburdened from what British people want.
