One of the best articles I’ve learned from about the discourse of postionality and why positioning, as an active verb, is a far more robust and intentional way to engage in research by addressing social locations, interlocking forms of systemic violence, and praxis. 👏🏽
Beyond Making a Statement: Authors examine the intersections of race & disability & ask, “What is the power & purpose of positioning & positionality statements?” #Intersectionality #OpenAccess

A student literally said “I don’t want to teach at a title 1 school bc that’s where all the misbehaved students are… I’d rather teach in a wealthier school” right after talking about Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth. I can’t make this shit up 😭😭😭
Beautifully written editorial!! Thank you @brant_jenn and @licholopezlopez ✨🙏🏽💞
Happy to share that Curriculum Inquiry, Vol 53, 5 is now published. Check out this editorial I co-write with @licholopezlopez: Of Place and time: Freedom weavings of curricular possibilities tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…
Semester hasn’t even started yet and I’ve already had to academically fight (email) on multiple occasions. Dios, ilumíname.

A woman who said she is a professor in the global studies dept was detained alongside UC Irvine students
When asked if she was concerned about possibly jeopardizing her job, she responded, "What job do I have if the students don't have a future?"
Excited to share my first article from the diss on Two-Spirit, Queer, and Trans Indigenous educators in TX, and the transformative learning spaces they make with community, Land, & ancestors💧✨⛰️
TY to @CI_Editors for such a generative process! tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.…
Like, we literally pay these admin hundreds of thousands of dollars to call the police on students exercising their first amendment right. Then next year they’ll talk about the importance of “community, student voice”. We need another world for delulu cause this is…
“Get out, you hurt us!”
Dean of Students Christina Olstad and Argyle Wade, Chief of Staff to Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, escorted by police as student protesters at @UWMadison yelled at them.
So all these universities with Land acknowledgments are calling state troopers, city police, and the military to arrest people for peacefully organizing and speaking against a genocide? It’s as if universities put these acknowledgments out for… themselves 🤗
The university will never be a true place for academic freedom because it is first a machine of imperial control. They will tie our hands behind our back then blame us for wanting to break free.

Some of the staff had 20+ years of service. I heard it was a 20 minute zoom, a scripted firing, were told that the meeting would be quick, and that the staff had to still help with the “transition”. A fucking mess texastribune.org/2024/04/02/…
