Great thread highlighting how bad EU decision-making can be when laws are adopted so close to the end of a term. Everyone wants it’s done before the end of the mandate - no matter the costs.

This is yet another example of the COM abandoning the Single market project favour of bad compromises for the quick headline ‘we have a deal’.

My vote is open for June 2024 to candidates openly pledging to stop trilogue night negotiations and the bad practice of compromise amendments.
I again ask whether insisting on marathon negotiation sessions that deprives people of sleep, on critically important pieces of legislation, really the best way to go about things?

As a trained jurist in EU constitutional law, I do not see any added value in explicitly including the primacy principle within primary law. On the contrary, this will remove the flexibility required for a constructive dialogue between national courts.
‼️🇪🇺Primacy of EU law: MEPs want the principle to be enshrined in the Treaties The report by @engerer and @YanaToom was adopted in @EPInstitutional and @EP_Legal earlier today (30 for, 9 against, 0abstentions). 👉Read more: europarl.europa.eu/news/en/p…

Challenges of the primacy of EU law by constructive national courts have also lead to positive developments - such as the establishment of EU fundamental rights at EU level.

We read this article on stream and it's disappointing how one-sided & borderline populist it is. You'd expect that from a tabloid, not from a newspaper specialised & knowledgeable on EU politics. Especially on a topic as important as lobbying & conflict of interest. A rant👇

Howdy Brussels bubble. I'm writing Thursday's @POLITICOEurope Brussels Playbook. That means today, Wednesday, you should: Pitch me. Leak to me. Tell me it's your birthday. Do it now.

"Let me just add this so there's absolute clarity," adds Gonsalves. "Historically we've had a lot of big power activities against smaller poorer countries [in Latin America]. And some who have done things in LA & Caribbean...are the ones now raising those principles in Ukraine."

Conflicts of interest have no part to play in the EU decision-making process. This is true for lobbyists and politicians alike. This is essential to secure trust and integrity in the #EU decision making process. Story by @swheaton politico.eu/article/mep-mari…
