💜Standing Together Against Domestic Violence💜 Here in the Town of Paradise Valley, we stand together against Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence awareness means more than wearing purple. It means understanding what domestic violence looks like, recognizing the warning signs, supporting survivors, and working together to create safer communities. Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence, is a pattern of behaviors used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner or family member. It can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, race, or background. Abuse can take many forms, including: 🔹 Physical: Hitting, slapping, shoving, choking, kicking, or using weapons 🔹 Emotional & Psychological: Name-calling, constant criticism, gaslighting, threats, humiliation, or isolation 🔹 Sexual: Any sexual activity that is forced or occurs without consent, sextortion 🔹 Financial & Economic: Controlling money, preventing someone from working or attending school, or restricting access to bank accounts 🔹 Technological: Tracking someone’s location, monitoring phones or social media, using technology to harass, stalk, or intimidate, demanding passwords to personal online accounts Abuse is never the victim’s fault. How can you help? 💜 Listen without judgment and believe survivors. 💜 Offer support and respect their choices. 💜 Help connect them with resources and safety-planning services. 💜 Learn the warning signs and help educate others. 💜 Support local domestic violence organizations by donations, volunteering, or advocacy. If you or someone you know needs help: 📞 National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) 📱 Text: START to 88788 💻 Chat: thehotline.org The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7, free, confidential, and in multiple languages. 🚨 If you are in immediate danger, call 911. To every survivor: We see you. We believe you. You are not alone. 💜 Together, we can raise awareness, support survivors, and work toward a community where everyone feels safe. #DomesticViolenceAwareness #PVPD #PurpleRibbon #EndDomesticViolence #Support #ParadiseValleyPD

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🎀 Breast cancer can affect anyone, and awareness is an important part of protecting your health and supporting those around you. This month, we encourage our community to take a moment to learn about breast cancer, understand your personal risk, and stay up to date with recommended screenings. 💗 Know your risk: Talk with your healthcare provider about your individual risk factors and screening recommendations. 💗 Get screened: Regular mammograms can help detect breast cancer early, when it may be easier to treat. 💗 Know the signs: Be aware of changes in your breasts and speak with a healthcare provider if you notice anything unusual. 💗 Support one another: Show compassion and support to those currently battling breast cancer, survivors, and the families and loved ones standing beside them. Early detection can save lives. This October, let’s come together to raise awareness, encourage one another to prioritize our health, and show support for everyone impacted by breast cancer. 🎀💗 This October, the Paradise Valley Police Department stands with those currently battling breast cancer, survivors, their families, and everyone working toward a future with fewer lives impacted by this disease. 💗 Together, we can make a difference. #BreastCancerAwareness #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #EarlyDetection #KnowYourRisk #GetScreened #KnowTheSigns #BreastHealth #SupportOneAnother #October #ParadiseValleyPD #ParadiseValleyAZ

September may be Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month, but conversations about mental health should not end when the month does. One way we can continue changing the narrative around suicide is by making it more normal to talk about mental health, ask for support, and seek help when we need it. There is no single way that someone experiencing a difficult time may look or act, and there may not always be visible warning signs. What we can do is help create a community where people do not have to hide what they are experiencing or feel ashamed for asking for support. Mental health conversations belong in everyday life. Asking for help is okay. Offering a listening ear is okay. And connecting someone with professional support is okay. As September comes to a close, we encourage our community to carry that message forward throughout the year. If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911.

🔎 Behind the data is someone helping connect the dots. September 20 is Crime Analyst Appreciation Day, and we’re proud to recognize our Crime Analyst Andrea Ford and the important work happening behind the scenes at the Paradise Valley Police Department. Crime analysis is about much more than numbers on a spreadsheet. By identifying trends, analyzing patterns, connecting information, and turning data into actionable intelligence, our Crime Analyst helps give our officers and leadership a clearer picture of what is happening in our community and where our resources can have the greatest impact. Much of this work happens quietly, but its impact can be seen throughout our organization, from supporting investigations and patrol operations to helping guide informed, data-driven decisions. Today, we’re taking a moment to recognize the person behind that work. Happy Crime Analyst Appreciation Day, and thank you for everything you do to support PVPD and the Paradise Valley community! 💙 #CrimeAnalystDay #CrimeAnalysis #ParadiseValleyPD #PVPD #BehindTheBadge #PublicSafety

September Safety Focus: Know Where to Turn Support is available, even when you are not sure what to say or what to do next. Mental health struggles and suicidal thoughts can be difficult to talk about, but no one has to navigate them alone. If you are concerned about yourself or someone else, reaching out for support can be a meaningful next step. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and connect with trained crisis counselors. If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911. You do not need to have the perfect words, a diagnosis, or certainty about what someone is experiencing before asking for help. Knowing where to turn is part of building a community where support is easier to access. For the graphic, I’d use a headline like “HELP IS AVAILABLE.” with a subhead of “Know where to turn.” Then make 988 the visual centerpiece, with 911 clearly separated as the emergency option. #SuicidePreventionMonth #SuicideAwareness #988Lifeline #ConnectionMatters #ParadiseValleyPD #PVPD #MentalHealthAwareness #CommunityConnection

🏆 OFFICER OF THE YEAR: VASILIJE SAGOVNOVIC 🏆 On September 10, Officer Vasilije Sagovnovic was surrounded by his family and his PVPD family, including his wife, Jovana, and Chief Freeman Carney, as he was honored by Elks Lodge No. 335 as the Paradise Valley Police Department’s Officer of the Year. Officer Sagovnovic joined PVPD two years ago after serving approximately five years with the Nevada Highway Patrol. From the moment he walked through our doors, he brought an unmistakable energy and positivity with him. He is rarely seen without a smile and approaches his work, his colleagues, and the community with genuine enthusiasm and care. This recognition is incredibly well deserved, and we could not be prouder to have Officer Sagovnovic representing the Paradise Valley Police Department. Please join us in congratulating Officer Sagovnovic, as well as the outstanding first responders from across Arizona who were also recognized for their service. Congratulations, Officer Sagovnovic!
