Stronger health systems and skilled health workers leads to better outcomes for mothers and newborns. #EmpowerUG At the EMPOWER Learning and Transition Event, Doreen Kenyanji highlighted progress across 50 districts and approximately 504 health facilities. Facilities experiencing shortages of essential reproductive health commodities declined from 42% to 22% while 97% of mentored health workers attained full competence. From newborn care and emergency blood services to community education, EMPOWER’s public sector interventions demonstrate the value of investing in both health facilities and the people they serve. What if cost was less of a barrier to family planning? #EmpowerUG At the EMPOWER Learning and Transition Event, Timothy Kasule of UNFPA highlighted how the programme supported more affordable contraceptive options through private sector partnerships. The reported price of a three-year implant fell from approximately UGX 80,000 to UGX 17,000 while Sayana Press became available at around UGX 10,000–12,000.
