A 🧵on all the call for property tax reform after 421-A was dismantled which was supposed to be the ‘Grand Compromise’ in return for ending the program which fuels MOST of NYC’s housing growth.

…I grew up in #Crownheights affordable housing. My family moved from a 1BR (I shared a room w/my mom) to a spacious affordable 2BR.
Yes, we need far more than 35 units, but this is a step in the right direction and we should not let the perfect be the enemy of the good….

We're excited to be working with a fantastic team at 737 4th Avenue to bring permanently affordable low-income apartments, neighborhood retail space, jobs for local residents, underground parking, green space, and much more to Sunset Park.
We won't settle for a bad plan either.

We won’t settle for a bad plan.

The project is “replacing" a fast food resturant and is 25% affordable.. that’s 25 or so new affordable units for a nabe that needs them...

…we can ever expect the private sector to develop affordable housing. The only alternative is the city paying for 100% the costs, which isn’t on the table rn.
Just fustraing because we have to learn how to say yes to good projects and no to bad ones…
Nuance is key.
