Will the Liberals use Bill C-39 to expropriate property for Alto before it's even approved? I asked Minister of Transport Steven MacKinnon.

Shame on Mark Carney for forcing struggling single moms and small business owners in Canada to pay taxes for foreign aid to a place controlled by a terrorist dictatorship that refuses elections. Cut foreign aid. Put Canadians first for once.

Three years ago today, the world witnessed the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Families were torn apart, children kidnapped, women assaulted, and the elderly slaughtered: some 809 civilians were killed, while 252 would endure captivity as hostages. In January, the last body of the hostages killed was finally returned following the return of the last living hostage last year. The return offered some closure to the conflict as the last body was laid to rest, but we know the scourge of antisemitism is not over. The hatred that fueled October 7th did not remain on foreign shores. Right here in Canada, far too many synagogues, Jewish businesses and institutions have been the targets of harassment and hate. This is not, and cannot become, normal. Conservatives will always fight against antisemitism and all forms of hatred: protecting our schools, communities and places of worship so that Canadians of all faiths can live in peace and security. Today, alongside our Jewish friends and neighbours, we remember those who lost their lives that day. May their memory be a blessing.

The NGO that published this report received over $40 million of your tax dollars last year from the Liberal government. Do you think it was a good investment?

Stelco's partial shutdown will cost about 350 good jobs. Every one of them is a family that has to rethink the mortgage, the groceries, and come up with a plan for the next year. That same week, the Liberals announced they will be spending $33 million for BlueOrchard's climate fund, a Swiss-managed investment fund that lends in emerging markets around the world. The Liberal government spends tens of millions for climate funds abroad, but it still can't present a plan to keep steel jobs in Canada. We need to put Canadian workers first. Jobs at home are the priority.

MP @PLawrenceCAN asked what the government spent on Build Canada Homes promotional items. The department’s answer: “Nothing to report.” But there’s a branded sticker on Housing Minister Gregor Robertson’s iPad. Can the minister explain who made it—and who paid?

Bond yields jumped again this week. You won't feel it or notice it right away. But this has major implications for Canadians. Higher yields raise what the federal government pays to refinance its debt. This means that interest costs still go up, even if the Bank of Canada holds its rate at 2.25%. Borrowing costs are going to quietly climb for families, small businesses, and mortgage renewals. Mark Carney can't ignore the debt for much longer. Real consequences are not on the way, they have already arrived and are seeping into Canadians’ pocketbooks.

Canadians have always been proud to help others in need. But they have a right to question this announcement. Mark Carney has committed $100 million without getting any assurances the funding will reach those who need it and that it will not be redirected to Hamas, a listed terrorist organization. What safeguards are in place to ensure this money reaches people in need and not terrorist networks? Are there any conditions tied to this funding, including the rejection of terror and better governance? Canadians expect their hard-earned tax dollars to be spent wisely and in an accountable manner. There is no indication that any accountability mechanisms function in the region and this means this money is unlikely to achieve the desired results.

Mark Carney could not be more out of touch. With Canadians missing meals and mortgage payments, and days before he addresses the European Parliament (instead of the Canadian Parliament) we learn in a foreign newspaper of secret talks to make Canada an "Associate Member" of the European Union. This is not about diversifying trade: we have had tariff-free trade with Europe for over a decade. They would buy more of our goods today if the Liberal government would get out of the way and permit mines, pipelines, LNG plants to produce and ship them. Canadians deserve answers: Is the WSJ report true about associate membership in the EU? If so, will European border policies apply in Canada, further overwhelming our immigration system while our youth can’t find homes? Will Canadian waitresses struggling with rent have to pay tax dollars to the bloated EU bureaucracy? Will Canadian small businesses be buried under the red tape of Eurocrats that have never met a Canadian entrepreneur? All questions I’d ask in Parliament, but it is shuttered. And one more: who decides for Canada? The Welland welder did not elect a Eurocrat to regulate our steel. The Saskatchewan farmer and the Atlantic fisherman did not choose a Brussels agrifood regulator that has never even seen our prairies or coasts. We will NEVER be the 51st U.S. state. And we will NEVER be the 28th EU state. We are Canadians. This is our home, our freedom, our sovereignty, our people. Now and forever.

The Prime Minister promised free trade in Canada by Canada Day last year. It was all show and no go. We still have federal barriers to interprovincial trade a year and a half after he promised one Canadian economy. He not only broke his promise, he also hiked taxes and piled on extra costs for Canadian liquor producers. Canadians should be free to buy Canadian. So let’s pass MP Dan Albas’ bill to allow shipment of 🇨🇦 alcohol across provincial borders, and back the Conservative Economic Action Plan to lower taxes, cut red tape, and boost investment: conservative.ca/cpc/free-tra…

The quieter part of today’s announcement is that bond yields are rising again. The federal government’s interest bill was $54 billion last year. That’s projected to grow to $59 billion this year and $81 billion by 2031. In fact, most of this year’s borrowing is just refinancing old debt at the new and higher rate. When the government’s cost of borrowing climbs, so does the cost of a mortgage, a small-business loan, and every dollar the federal government pays in interest. This isn’t just something going on in Ottawa, households across Canada are going to be feeling it whether they know about it or not. This climb is not sustainable and is going to catch up to us if we don’t act quickly. We need a government that treats other people’s money like it matters.

Carney has appointed the ultimate Liberal powerbroker to head up the government’s corporate welfare agency. Dominic Barton is the man who ran McKinsey while the firm profited from helping Purdue Pharma “supercharge” the opioid crisis; who chaired Trudeau's economic advisory council while McKinsey's federal contracts exploded thirty-fold to over $200m, contracts the Auditor General later found broke the rules. Now he will help insiders get billions in handouts, bailouts, and carve outs, paid for by you. And he was the man at McKinsey who cozied up to the Communist government in Beijing, even working with state-owned companies that violated international law and he refused to condemn the Uyghur genocide. The Liberal Club gets rich making everyone else poor.

Right out of the gate, PM Mark Carney took on a Justin Trudeau legacy project that no one was asking for with no business case. Liberals said it was in the national interest to tax Canadian families $4,000 for a project most Canadians would not use in the best-serviced corridor in the country. Conservatives immediately saw the $60–90 billion back-of-the-napkin estimate for what it was- a boondoggle in the making. Now internal docs show it ballooning to $150 billion- a $14,500 hit to Canadian families. The cost has doubled, and they haven't even laid a single metre of track. How much further will the cost balloon? Conservatives want to cancel Alto, and fix what we have: theglobeandmail.com/politics…

This is a good week to remember that a nation is the sum of its parts. To fight for Canada, therefore, requires we fight for Canadians; the Windsor workers worried about losing auto jobs; the single moms paying a fortune for back-to-school supplies and lunches for kids; the young couple that still cannot afford a house or the families losing theirs to mortgage defaults; the 2.2 million people lined up food banks and all the others who work more and afford less and who are forgotten amid all the drama. Every word we utter, every decision we make must protect their jobs, boost their wages and lower their living costs. Grand speeches, globe-trotting and grandstanding will not do that. Nor will small administrative tweaks wrapped in soaring rhetoric. Let’s focus on what we control. Launch an Economic Action Plan that unblocks the 500 projects awaiting federal permits, cuts spending, red tape and taxes on work, energy, homebuilding, and investment and build up our leverage to fight for tariff-free trade. The goal is an economy that makes more and costs less, with paycheques, not debt, so our people can fill their fridges and gas tanks without emptying their bank accounts; own homes and raise kids and retire in peace. Let’s defend our sovereignty, our flag, our land, our water and, most important of all, our people.

Lake Ontario is and will always be Lake Ontario, and no executive order will change that. It doesn't belong to President Donald Trump to rename on a whim. Our two countries have real trade issues that impact our people. Instead of responding to stunts and distractions, Canadians must stay focused on what we can control: making our economy strong and affordable at home and using our leverage to fight tariffs abroad.
