Education is a fundamental human right. Yet under Taliban group rule, children in madrassas face beatings and violence like this.
Deprived of formal education, modern technology, and peaceful spaces to learn, their childhoods and futures are being put at risk and this is all fear and hate child rights.
This is neither humane nor consistent with the fundamental values of any religion or culture. The systematic abuse of children and the denial of women’s and girls’ rights are grave violations of human dignity.
UN officials must stop private meetings that contribute to the normalisation of the Taliban without accountability. Engagement must not come at the expense of human rights.
The world must speak out and demand an end to violence against children and the systematic denial of fundamental rights in Afghanistan.

🚨 ANIMAL CRUELTY: DOG LEFT TO STARVE IN CELLAR — OWNER WALKS FREE OF IMMEDIATE JAIL
Ryan David Alfred Miller, 44, abandoned his dog Mabel in a cold, unheated cellar in Holmfirth for around three weeks, without food or water.
When she was discovered in January 2026, the American bully cross was severely emaciated and dehydrated. Her body condition scored just 1 out of 9.
A vet said her suffering was “very high” and warned she was probably just DAYS from death, with her organs at imminent risk of shutting down.
Despite a previous RSPCA warning about leaving dogs alone for extended periods, Miller left Mabel without anyone to care for her. A probation officer described the neglect as wilful, saying he had given “no consideration for this dog whatsoever”.
At Kirklees Magistrates’ Court, Miller received 38 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, plus 200 hours of unpaid work. He was banned from keeping animals indefinitely.
He must also pay £587 in costs, with around £3,000 in legal and veterinary fees to be recovered by the RSPCA.
Mabel survived - but only just. She has since been rehomed.

Regardless of whether this dog was given anaesthesia or not, tattoos still hurt AFTER the procedure. The skin is left sore, irritated and needing to heal.
So I have to ask, what on earth possesses somebody to tattoo a dog to this extent? 🤬
A dog cannot consent to having its body covered in permanent tattoos. It cannot tell you it doesn’t want it, and it cannot understand why you are putting it through this.
For what? To show off? To make a statement? To get attention?
Animals are not fashion accessories. They are living, breathing creatures that depend on us to protect them, not subject them to unnecessary procedures for our own satisfaction.
I genuinely cannot understand how anyone looks at a dog and thinks covering its body in tattoos is acceptable.
Just because you CAN do something to an animal doesn’t mean you SHOULD.
