I was sad to read of the death of the poet Douglas Dunn. A quiet voice, always a resonant one, probably still best known for his first mature poetry collection 'Terry Street', 1969, but 'Elegies', 1985, stands one of the great collections of the late 20th Century.
The preface is written by Brenda Moon (Larkin’s former deputy at Hull) and the essay was first presented at the annual winter meeting of the Friends of Edinburgh University Library on 2nd December 1986. A brilliant self-deprecating tribute to Larkin.

Very sad news about the passing of poet Douglas Dunn. He wrote many great poems in and about Hull. As tribute, here’s the film @PoetDeanwilson6 made about the him.

Really pleased to have this photo of Larkin's statue (in Hull Paragon station) in the exhibition. Looking forward to going - it's on until January.

The new edition of Roger Lewis's biography of Charles Hawtrey has an excellent additional chapter where (amongst other things) he maps some of the individuals in PL's poems to the Carry On team. Hawtrey is Mr. Bleaney, of course.

In the graveyard close to Robert Burns’s birthplace. The words are from Robert Louis Stevenson’s poem ‘Requiem’ which were used on his own gravestone.
