I remember 25 years ago when this happened. I actually saw the smoke from the area where the twin towers once stood. I was actually in NYC. But we met strangers out in the street, helped out and consoled each other in our time of need. We will never forget.
On Sept. 11, 2001, at 8:46 a.m., Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. #momentofsilence

I remember receiving a copy of @Nirvana “Nevermind” and reviewing it 35 years ago. It was “New & Way Cool” at WRCT-FM. But we were thinking, “what’s with this noise?” 🤔 Turned out that new grunge sound from Seattle arrived. They played their only concert in Pittsburgh:

From 1989 to 1995 I was in college radio. First at WRPI-FM Troy behind the scenes. I was only 17. The first song I helped air was “Luka” by The Lemonheads. Then to WRCT-FM in 1990, then to WFNP-FM New Paltz where I had my own radio show, and back to WRCT-FM again until 1995.
Happy National Radio Day! Yes you can still hear me on air on special occasions. 📻 Like this one at the WRCT-FM Pittsburgh 75th Anniversary in 2024!

RIP Dave "The Duke" Marsh. An early believer on E Street, and a very early supporter of the Jukes when we really needed it. He was fearless, relentless, arrogant, everything you'd want in a RocknRoll troublemaker. And by the way, a tremendous writer. People know his Bruce and Who books, but his overlooked Louie Louie captured an essential untold part of Rock history and was Dave at his brilliant best. Travel well my friend.

EMF played Pittsburgh live in 1991 when I was a student at Carnegie Mellon University. It really was an “Unbelievable” live show at Skibo Ballroom. Carter the USM was their opening act. RIP Derry Brownson

Happy B-day to Dennis Drew of 10000 Maniacs. 🎂 Dennis co-founded the band with the late Rob Buck and Steve Gustafson. Dennis and Steve have remained constant since 1981. Original singer Natalie Merchant left in 1993 to go solo.

Before @Myspace, radio was our social network. This new network was where I remember debuting new music exclusively before I brought them over to radio. It was great that it also connected many music artists with other artists with overlapping fanbases. We should return to that.
