Recently saw a patient still dealing with the long term consequences of polio contracted as a child in the 1950s. So grateful we now have a polio vaccine. Got me thinking about the long term consequences of Covid I’ll be seeing when I’m nearing retirement decades from now.

Seriously, someone has to do something about the nomenclature of #SARSCoV2 variants. Look at this mess. Useful for virologists & evolutionary biologists but what of the rest of us? If people want us not to call them by place names they need to give us usable alternatives.

I had Ebola and was treated with convalescent plasma. It was before we had good data on it. And it actually made me worse.
Convalescent plasma has an incredible history & works for many diseases.
But it didn’t for Ebola. And might not for Covid.
Only good science can tell us.

So tired of reading articles that project #Covid19 vaccine could be ready in a few months or a year without the key proviso that that doesn't mean you or I will be vaccinated on that timeline. Making/deploying vaccine for whole countries, let alone the world, is gonna take time.

It appears we are a week or so behind Italy. A ban on flights from Europe isn’t going to change that. More decisive federal action — massive testing and social distancing — appears to be necessary to “flatten the curve.”
