On his fourth voyage Christopher Columbus was shipwrecked on Jamaica and stranded there for about a year.

Entirely predictable > capex reports show the size of the pipes that may be built, not the actual flow through them > It is not even a case of outbidding all potential clients for energy > without power, AI datacenters are merely warehouses for very expensive electronics
Billions of pounds lost on a single project because we can’t connect it to the grid for half a decade and have destroyed our capacity to generate reliable electricity.

Joke aside, there is an actual theory around this. Automating 75% of a job != removing 75% of the humans in the loop It comes down to 3 things: - organization of workflows - elasticity of demand - need for accountability
Unfortunately the wrong 75% lol

Exploit affecting Copeland!
UPDATE: 🇫🇷 Hackers have expanded their attacks on supermarket refrigeration systems in France, with incidents now affecting equipment from Danfoss, Dixell and Copeland. After the initial wave disrupted refrigeration systems at hundreds of supermarkets, businesses using Dixell equipment were targeted overnight from Monday to Tuesday. In the Bordeaux region, hackers reportedly altered temperature and defrost settings, changing frozen-food temperatures from −22°C to 150°C. Technicians detected the abnormal rise around 4 AM and intervened before any stock had to be discarded. An E.Leclerc supermarket in the Tarn region also reportedly suffered a break in its cold chain after its Dixell system was affected. France’s cybersecurity agency ANSSI has updated its alert after reports of numerous compromises involving Danfoss AK-SM and AK-SC controllers, as well as Copeland XWEB and Dixell XWEB systems. The full scale of the attacks and the identity of those responsible remain unknown.

This makes me sound like an anarchist, which is not an accurate reflection of my political stance. So here is a longer extract of the said email. And also: my writing was so much better before I was in Twitter and before I used AI assistants lmao
I wrote a long email in response (likely in 2021). It is translated here by ChatGPT. It very much applies to the current situation

We're open sourcing SPACE, the sandbox platform that runs every task in Perplexity Computer. SPACE gives each agent task its own Firecracker microVM and controls credentials and outbound traffic from outside the VM. Available now under Apache 2.0: github.com/perplexityai/SPAC…

Just before the take off
Exa just passed $100m in annualized revenue. We've grown almost exactly 10x per year for 3 years. We now handle 2 billion requests a month from 200k+ teams. And it’s still so early: We predict agents will search 1000x more than humans by 2030. Agents don't search like humans. They write long, complex queries and want all the world's data, not just the web. We've spent 5 years building a search engine designed for them. We now serve personal agents, AI labs, coding agents, GTM agents, really any agent. Exa gives these agents access to 100s of billions of web documents and tons of proprietary data. Our customers are increasingly noticing that information is the bottleneck to agent performance. While the world seems close to perfect intelligence with models like Fable and Astra, we are very far from perfect information. To our small but legendary team, thank you for getting us here, from engineering to research to GTM to ops. To our customers, it is an honor to serve you. We have some exciting releases coming soon and can't wait to share them 🫡

I don’t think the AI cycle is over. But I think financing will be harder, things will be scrutinized more w/math, the marginal bid on a stock will be harder to get, & gone are the days of +20% pops on random/recycled press releases Capex can grow by hyper’s OCF growth and be ok
