Thanks to the USPS and the Papua New Guinea postal services, the DDA reached Jonathan Mesulam today - on his birthday! 🎉  PGA is delighted to finally recognize the efforts of Jonathan & his entire community in Papua New Guinea with the acceptance of the Award.

Jonathan was set to join us in Mexico City 🇲🇽 until his travel was unexpectedly interrupted, and so we embarked on a quest to get the Defender of Democracy Award to him in Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬 all the way from PGA’s HQ in New York City. 🌆

During our Annual Forum in Mexico City in March of this year, we announced Jonathan Mesulam, Founder and Director of the West Coast Development Foundation in Papua New Guinea, as the recipient of PGA’s 2026 Defender of Democracy Award. 🏆
