Occam's razor for the compute crunch:
One AI rack pulls 120–140kW, as much as ~100 homes. So we wait years for transformers, or launch 100+ Starships per GW if @elonmusk & @JensenHuang figure it out.
Or flip it: one GPU per home.
Already wired. Already cooled. Rooftop solar makes the extra power near-free. No permits, no power plants, no water.
Millions of homes become one distributed data centre, and Akash Homenode is built for exactly this.
The cluster isn't the only model anymore.
$AKT @akashnet
The GPU shortage isn't ending anytime soon.
The fastest new supply? Compute that's already sitting idle.
$AKT is built to unlock it. Here's what's holding Akash back today, and what fixes it 🧵👇
1️⃣ ⚡ SUPPLY
Today: GPU supply on Akash dipped this year. Providers have little reason to stay listed when demand is uneven.
Fix: On-chain provider incentives (targeted for Dec) reward keeping GPUs online, for deeper, more reliable capacity.
2️⃣ 🧩 SIMPLICITY
Today: Beyond AI inference, most deployments still mean bringing your own container and writing a deployment file. Great for builders, a wall for everyone else.
Fix: A managed services marketplace (targeted 15 Dec). Click, don't configure.
3️⃣ 🔥 DEMAND
Today: Network revenue is still small next to the opportunity.
But @akashnetAI already serves 26M requests a week, and every paid lease burns AKT to mint ACT. More usage means more burn.
4️⃣ 🏦 ENTERPRISE
Today: Big buyers need reliability, simple billing and familiar channels.
@Architect_Fi's institutional inference auctions and OpenRouter are building exactly those on-ramps for the next wave of buyers.
Supply ⚡ Simplicity 🧩 Demand 🔥 Enterprise 🏦
Four gaps, four fixes underway.
Idle compute won't stay idle.
@akashnet
$AKT is 🔑 to unlock idle compute.
Shortage past 2028? The fastest supply is GPUs already sitting idle. December upgrades target on-chain provider incentives and a managed services marketplace to put them to work.
@akashnetAI is already at 26M requests a week. @akashnet
$AKT thesis just got a massive validation from the @theallinpod.
They never mentioned Akash.
They didn't need to.
🎥 Chamath on the default odds the market is pricing on CoreWeave debt 👇
In the first 25 min, @bhorowitz, @chamath, @Jason and @DavidSacks dissected the CoreWeave selloff. What they described is the exact problem decentralized compute exists to solve.
1/ Compute is sold out.
Ben says @ajassy told him the shortage runs "beyond 2028."
Sacks: H100s and A100s, generations old, still rent at premium prices.
Ben: the dot-com bust died from lack of demand. AI doesn't have that problem.
2/ The money is the weak link.
Some CoreWeave debt traded to ~15% yields as rates climbed.
CDS implied ~55% odds of default over 5 years. Chamath's caveat: that's the market's pricing, not his call.
Ben called neoclouds "Rube Goldberg financial machines."
Translation: simple job, absurdly complex setup. GPU contracts, data center leases, debt and memory buys all have to line up. One slips, the whole chain strains.
Sacks calls it "just volatility." That's the point: when your implied cost of capital can jump from 9.6% to ~15%, your growth depends on the bond market.
3/ Building is the bottleneck.
Ben: even labor to build data centers is hard, and politics make it harder.
Sacks: local communities aren't racing to hand out entitlements.
4/ Power is the ceiling.
The shortage is GPUs with power and cooling. Standing up gigawatts of new powered compute is hard even for Elon's team.
Put it together:
Demand isn't the problem.
Concentration is. Concentrated capital, concentrated sites, concentrated power.
Decentralized compute takes the opposite approach: an open marketplace for GPUs that already exist and are already powered, no $35B debt raise required.
Neoclouds scale on debt.
Networks scale on supply.
Who scales faster from here: neoclouds or open networks?

$AKT is building the mycelium network for global compute.
In nature, mycelium distributes nutrients across billions of nodes with zero single point of failure.
Why Jevons Paradox, the rental economy and geopolitical risks make decentralized compute a societal necessity 🧵👇1/10

Instead of building massive corporate silos, Homenode allows retail hosts (running RTX 4090s/5090s) to earn yield on idle compute while expanding global supply.
The next generation of AI won't just be trained in hyperscaler facilities—it will be powered from living rooms.
10/10 Recent $AKT upgrades unlocked short-term leases and sub-minute instance spinning.
By activating global idle GPUs, Akash alleviates the AI supply crunch while hardening critical digital infrastructure against failure.

🤖 Made with AI
$AKT inference volume is compounding in real-time.
@akashnetAI weekly requests doubled (2x) since July now serving 26.1M requests/week across Akash GPUs (260M total since mid-July).
Here is why this matters for tokenomics 📈📈🧵👇1/3

Why this request growth drives value accrual:
💳 AkashML is the primary fiat gateway.
⚙️ Every API request triggers automated BME spot buying on open exchanges.
📈 Inference demand isn't linear, it's compounding. 2/3
As agentic AI swarms scale, API request growth drives the structural spot buy floor for $AKT.

1/5
The most overlooked lever in $AKT’s BME engine isn’t compute demand it’s supply-side hardware distribution.
Why consumer GPUs (RTX 4090s/5090s) joining Akash Homenode completely alter provider sell pressure 🧵👇
4/5
Under AEP-76, providers can set custom Auto-Stake rules (e.g., auto-stake 50% of earnings).
• Datacenters: ~0–10% auto-staked
• Homenodes: ~40–80% auto-staked
Every consumer GPU added shifts network payout volume from immediate market dump to locked PoS collateral.
5/5
As inference demand shifts to edge consumer hardware, Homenode transforms retail GPU hosts into long-term $AKT stakers.
Higher host retention = less net sell pressure on open exchanges.
