🚨Houston ICE agent murdered Lorenzo Salgado Araujo — emergency Houston protest! Join us at the steps of City Hall at 5:30PM to demand that ICE Agent Gregory Feathers be finally charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent, and to end ICE operations in our city! Nearly 3 months ago, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was murdered by ICE agents while he was on his way to work in the second ward. Since then, activists and community members have been out in the streets and at city hall demanding justice for Lorenzo's family and end ICE terror in our communities. While the people have made significant victories, Mayor Whitmire and HPD Chief Diaz have dragged their heels every step of the way and continue to facilitate deeper cooperation between the city police and ICE, making Houston a hostile place for our immigrant neighbors. ICE agents have continued to brutalize immigrants across the country. Only a mass, people-led movement can end ICE's war on working people and bring justice to victims of ICE terror. Justice will not be served until this killer ICE Agent is charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent. We are calling on all activists, students, organizers, and people of conscience to join us TOMORROW at 5:30PM at the steps of City Hall during the public comment session to demand Justice for Lorenzo! This visit broke my heart. I visited an elderly man with a free food parcel he had requested. When I arrived, he asked, “Can you talk to me for five minutes, or do you have to go?” I told him I could stay. He spoke about his life, grieving his late wife and losing his only child to addiction. I stayed for an hour and listened. As I left, he said, “Thank you for listening. It’s been a long time since anyone listened to me, Tasha.” I’m sure he meant me. Either way, he went back into his home smiling. With his permission, I’ve passed his details to a befriending service. I learnt a long time ago that a food bank is about more than food. It’s about connection, being heard and being seen. I hope I made his day. I know he made mine. #foodbank
